UP Police Constable exam at a glance
2025 recruitment cut-off (32,679 posts)
2024 recruitment cut-off (60,244 posts)
Why was the 2025 cut-off so much higher?
- Fewer posts. 32,679 posts in 2025 against 60,244 in 2024 – about half – so far fewer candidates could be called for the next stage.
- Normalisation. The exam runs in several shifts, and marks are adjusted so that an easier shift does not give anyone an unfair advantage. That is why cut-offs have decimals.
- For the UR general list, the cut-off rose by about 44 marks (214 to 258). Do not assume the next exam will drop back to the 2024 level.
Safe target score for the next exam
- If the next notification has far more posts – like the 60,244 in 2024 – the cut-off is likely to come down, but plan for the higher figure.
- Clearing the written cut-off is only the first step. Start running practice early: the PET is pass/fail and many candidates are dropped there.
Frequently asked questions
How does the women’s cut-off work?
UP Police keeps a share of posts for women inside every category. That is why there is a separate, slightly lower cut-off for women. A woman candidate is considered in the general list of her category and also in the women’s list, so she needs to cross only the lower of the two.
Is the cut-off the same for every district?
Yes. UP Police Constable cut-offs are fixed state-wide for each category, not district-wise.
Does the cut-off include PET marks?
No. The running test is only qualifying (pass or fail). The cut-off and the final merit are based on written-exam marks.
When will the next cut-off come out?
The final cut-off for the 2025 recruitment comes with the final result, after the PET. We will add it here as soon as UPPRPB publishes it.
