- Tier-2: in CGL 2024 the lowest UR score that got any post was about 323 out of 390. Popular posts such as Inspector and ASO need much more – aim well above it.
- Fewer vacancies: CGL 2026 has 10,731 tentative vacancies, fewer than the 18,174 selected in CGL 2024, so competition per seat is likely to be higher.
Frequently asked questions
Why are SSC cut-offs in decimals?
SSC holds the exam in many shifts, and some are harder than others. To make it fair, it adjusts everyone’s raw marks with a formula called normalisation. That is why cut-offs look like 153.18981 rather than whole marks. We have rounded them to two decimals.
Are Tier-1 marks counted in the final merit?
No. Tier-1 only decides who goes to Tier-2. The final merit list uses Tier-2 Paper-I marks.
Is the cut-off the same for every post?
No. JSO and Statistical Investigator have their own cut-offs, and at the final stage each post has its own cut-off too. The “all other posts” figures above are the ones most candidates need.
When will the CGL 2026 cut-off come out?
SSC releases the Tier-1 cut-off with the Tier-1 result, and the final cut-off with the final result. We will add both here as soon as they are out.
