  • Senior Officers in Grade B (Mechanical and Petroleum) must sign a bond to serve OIL for at least 3 years from the joining date; the accounts post has no bond.
  • If you work in a government department or public sector company for the posts that ask for experience (scientist, Hindi Officer, Confidential Secretary), you need at least 2 years in the next lower pay scale, and a No Objection Certificate (NOC — a letter from your employer allowing you to apply).

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not apply for Senior Accounts Officer / Senior Internal Auditor without an ICAI or ICMAI membership certificate — such applications are not eligible.
  • For Senior Officer (Mechanical), degrees in Automation, Automobile, Industrial, Power, Manufacturing, Production, Mechatronics, Mining, Marine and Robotics Engineering are not accepted, and the degree name must match the notification.
  • Only full-time experience gained after your qualifying degree counts; part-time, internship, freelance, consultancy, school or UG teaching work, and research fellowships done before the degree, are ignored.
  • Use an email ID and mobile number that only you use and that stay active till the end; neither can be changed later, and the category you pick in the form cannot be changed either.
  • Send only one application and check your eligibility before paying — the fee is never refunded, and if you apply twice only the latest form counts.
  • Keep your Class 10 certificate ready, because OIL accepts no other document as proof of your date of birth.
