How the DA calculator works
Dearness allowance is a percentage of your basic pay (or basic pension for pensioners). Enter your basic pay, the DA rate you get now and the new rate. The calculator shows your DA at both rates, the change per month, and the arrears for the number of months you enter.
DA = Basic pay x DA rate / 100, rounded to the nearest rupee. Arrears = (New DA – Old DA) x number of months.
When is DA revised?
The government revises DA twice a year, with effect from 1 January and 1 July. The approval usually comes a few months later, so the first payment includes arrears for the months in between. Enter those months in the “Months of arrears” box.
What is the current DA rate?
The calculator starts at 60%, the rate in force from 1 January 2026. If a newer rate has been announced, type it in the “New DA rate” box.
