Two kinds of jobs on this page
- Women-only: only women can apply – Anganwadi Karyakatri and Sahayika posts are the most common example.
- Seats reserved for women: everyone applies, but a fixed number or percentage of seats can only go to women.
Good to know
What is horizontal reservation for women?
A share of seats, such as 35%, is kept for women inside every category. If 100 General seats have 35% horizontal reservation, 35 of them go to General-category women. It is not a separate category – a woman competes in her own category and also for the women’s seats within it.
Do I need to be from that state?
Usually yes. In Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and most other states, the women’s quota is only for permanent residents (domicile) of that state. Women from other states can still apply for the unreserved seats.
Fee and physical test relief
- Many recruitments charge women a lower fee or no fee at all – each post lists the exact fee.
- Police and home guard jobs have lower physical standards and a different running test for women – see the table in each post.
How Anganwadi selection works
There is normally no exam. Selection is from your 10th or 12th marks, and you usually must live in the village or ward the post is for.
