Typing Test: Free English and Hindi Typing Practice for Government Exams

Practise typing for government exams in English or Hindi. Choose your language and time, type the passage, and get your net speed, accuracy and mistakes at the end. It is free, needs no sign-up, and your best scores stay on your own device.

How this typing test works

Type each word you see and press the space bar to move to the next one. Correct words turn green and wrong words are marked red. The timer starts when you press your first key. Gross speed counts everything you typed, while net speed counts only the correct words. Speed is calculated on the basis of 5 characters for 1 word.

Typing in Hindi

To practise Hindi, switch your keyboard to Hindi first. On Windows press the Windows key and the space bar together, or use Google Input Tools. On a phone, add Hindi in your Gboard settings. Then type the words exactly as shown.

Typing speed needed in government exams

Many clerical and data entry posts ask for a typing skill test, and the required speed is different for each recruitment. Some exams measure words per minute and some measure key depressions per hour. The target you choose here is only for practice, so always check the speed given in your official notification.

Tips to improve your typing speed

Keep your fingers on the home row and try not to look at the keys. Focus on accuracy first, because mistakes slow you down more than careful typing. Practise for 15 to 20 minutes every day and increase the time slowly. Sit straight and keep your wrists relaxed.
