1. Online Application + Hardcopy
Fill the online form at dtl.gov.in with accurate GATE 2026 marks and Demand Draft details, then send a printed hardcopy along with all supporting documents by Speed Post to the DTL office. No data change is permitted after successful submission.
2. GATE 2026 Score-Based Merit
Selection is made entirely on merit derived from the GATE 2026 score (Normalized Marks out of 100). Paper code EE for AM(T)-Electrical, EC and/or CS for AM(T)-Non-Electrical, and CE for AM(Civil). Separate merit lists are prepared for each of the three post categories. A Main List and a Reserve List are drawn up.
3. Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates must produce originals of date-of-birth proof, all educational certificates and mark sheets, the GATE 2026 score card, category certificates in the prescribed GoI/GNCTD format, and a government ID. Candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage if information is found false.
4. Medical Examination
Conducted by the DTL Medical Board before joining. The Board’s decision is final and binding, and no relaxation in health standards is permitted.
5. Training – 1 Year
Split into 03 months academic training through NPTI (or another institute as per DTL training policy) requiring 65% marks to pass the training examination, followed by 09 months field / on-the-job training at DTL substations and offices. Quarterly reviews are conducted by the Controlling Officer.
6. Final Assessment & Absorption
After the one-year training, a Committee constituted by Director (HR) makes the final assessment; a minimum of 65% marks is required for absorption. Candidates who fail to qualify are not absorbed and their services are terminated, with 15 days to represent to Director (HR). The absorption order is issued within 30 days of completing training, placing the candidate in Pay Level-10.
Seniority note: Inter-se seniority in the Assistant Manager (Technical) cadre is fixed in a 9:1 ratio between the Electrical and Non-Electrical streams — after every nine AM(T)-Electrical candidates in merit order, one AM(T)-Non-Electrical candidate is placed in the seniority list. Assistant Manager (Civil) forms a separate cadre where seniority follows merit order alone.
