Selection Process

StageDetails
Stage 1 — Written TestOne paper of 100 marks, MCQ type in OMR / CBRE mode (exact mode to be notified later), duration 2 hours. Composition: 60 questions of 60 marks on subjects as per the DMRT syllabus, 25 questions of 25 marks on practical skills, 10 questions of 10 marks in Arithmetic (HSC standard) and 5 questions of 5 marks in English (HSC standard). Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer and for multiple answers; blank answers carry no penalty. Minimum qualifying marks / normalised score: 30% for ST, SC, PwD and Ex-Servicemen candidates; 35% for all others. PwD candidates with benchmark disability get 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour.
Stage 2 — Provisional Merit List & ScreeningA Provisional Master Merit List is prepared from the written test marks / normalised score. Candidates securing the minimum qualifying marks are screened for Document Verification at a ratio of not less than 1.25 times the number of vacancies advertised, category and special-category wise, as per merit and availability.
Stage 3 — Document VerificationShortlisted candidates must mandatorily attend Document Verification before the District Level Board on the schedule fixed by the Commission, carrying all original certificates required under Clause 7 of the advertisement. Failure to attend results in rejection of candidature. Candidature remains provisional until validated by the appointing authority.
Stage 4 — District Allocation / Physical Counselling (optional)District allocation is made on a merit-cum-choice basis either through the online district allocation process or, if the Commission decides, through physical counselling where districts are allotted afresh as per vacancies available on the spot.
Stage 5 — Provisional Select ListDrawn from the screening list of eligible candidates after Document Verification, separately for each district, equal to the number of vacancies advertised category-wise, strictly on merit, availability, “Not Interested” option (if any) and district preference.
Tie-breaking ruleIn case of equal scores the order applied is: higher percentage of marks in DMRT, then age seniority (older candidate ranked higher), then higher +2 marks, then the Commission’s discretion.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not submit more than one application form — multiple applications are treated as unfair means and will lead to cancellation of your result.
  • Do not stop at registration: registration or re-registration alone is not an application, and the online application form must be filled and submitted separately by 30.09.2026.
  • Registration closes a week earlier than the application itself, on 23.09.2026 — leaving registration to the last week of September means you cannot apply at all.
  • Applicants with a temporary disability must not apply under the PwD category; such applications are summarily rejected.
  • Give your own bank account details while paying the fee, since the Rs. 500/- refund for candidates who appear in the exam is credited only to the account or payment method used at the time of application.
  • Choose your district preferences carefully — you may name a maximum of three districts for the test centre, and preferences already submitted are treated as final and binding unless the Commission reopens the option.
  • Attempt only the questions you are reasonably sure about, since 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer while blank answers carry no penalty.
