Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. On-the-spot Registration | Held at CSIR-IICT, Tarnaka, Hyderabad between 08:30 AM and 09:30 AM on your position code’s interview date — 29.09.2026 for codes 1 to 20, 30.09.2026 for codes 21 to 40. This stage is strictly time-bound: candidates reporting after 09:30 AM are not registered at all and cannot proceed, regardless of eligibility. Carry the duly filled application form downloaded from the CSIR-IICT website. |
| 2. Document Verification | One set of attested copies of all relevant documents is submitted, and all originals are produced for verification — educational certificates from matriculation / 10th onwards, valid NET / GATE where the code requires it, experience certificates, date of birth proof and the latest category / caste certificate. Candidates who arrive without the prescribed documents are not allowed into the interview, and the candidature is forfeited with no exemption considered. |
| 3. Interview | The core selection stage. Candidates are assessed against the essential qualification for the position code they applied under, with the desirable qualification (NET / GATE, Ph.D., or specific hands-on experience) used to distinguish between candidates who all meet the essential bar. The notification does not publish marks or weightage for the interview. |
| 4. Skill Test (where applicable) | CSIR-IICT will conduct a skill test in addition to the interview for suitable posts. Whether a given position code carries a skill test is decided by the institute, and the notification does not list which codes these are. |
| 5. Offer and Engagement | The engagement is purely temporary, initially for up to six months, extendable or curtailable based on the duration of the sponsored project and the candidate’s performance and conduct. It carries no claim to any permanent position in CSIR / IICT. CSIR-IICT reserves the right not to fill a particular position and to cancel or withdraw a selection at any stage if a discrepancy is found. |

How to Apply
There is no online application for this recruitment. You download a form, fill it in by hand, and bring it with you on the interview day — that is the whole process.
- Go through the official notification and pick the position code (1 to 40) whose essential qualification you actually meet, then check which day that code is being interviewed.
- Download the Project Staff application form from the CSIR-IICT website and fill it in completely, writing your chosen position code clearly on it.
- Put together one set of attested copies of every relevant document, and keep the originals separate to carry with you for verification.
- Reach CSIR-IICT, Tarnaka, Hyderabad 500007 on 29.09.2026 if your code is 1 to 20, or on 30.09.2026 if your code is 21 to 40, and get your name registered between 08:30 AM and 09:30 AM.
- Attend the interview, and the skill test if one is held for your post, on the same day.
Note: Candidates reporting after 09:30 AM will not be allowed to register, and no TA / DA is paid for attending. No interim enquiry or correspondence will be entertained.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Arriving after 09:30 AM — registration closes hard at that time and late candidates are turned away no matter how well they qualify, so plan for Hyderabad traffic and reach well before 08:30 AM.
- Turning up on the wrong day — codes 1 to 20 are interviewed only on 29.09.2026 and codes 21 to 40 only on 30.09.2026, and there is no provision to be seen on the other day.
- Attending while your final result is still awaited — you need at least a provisional certificate in hand, and final-semester candidates are explicitly not eligible.
- Bringing only photocopies — you must carry all originals for verification along with one attested set, or your candidature is forfeited with no exemption.
- Overlooking the six-year CSIR service bar — if you have already spent six years or more in CSIR as a Project Assistant, Project Fellow, JRF, SRF or Research Associate, you cannot be engaged.
- Expecting travel reimbursement — no TA or DA is paid for attending this walk-in, so budget for the trip to Hyderabad yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the last date to apply for CSIR-IICT Recruitment 2026?
There is no application deadline as such — you attend in person and register between 08:30 AM and 09:30 AM on 29.09.2026 if your position code is 1 to 20, or on 30.09.2026 if it is 21 to 40.
2. How many posts are on offer?
There are 51 posts in total, spread across 40 separate position codes under various sponsored projects.
3. What qualification do I need?
It depends entirely on the position code — most need an M.Sc. in Chemistry or a related science, or a B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemical, Petrochemical, Environmental or Computer Engineering, while the two Project Assistant-II posts accept a B.Sc. or a 3-year diploma.
4. What is the age limit?
The upper age limit is 35 years for Project Associate-I, Project Associate-II and Project Assistant-II posts, and 40 years for Senior Project Associate and Principal Project Associate posts, reckoned as on the date of the interview.
5. Is there an application fee?
No fee is mentioned anywhere in the notification for any category.
6. How much will I be paid?
The stipend runs from Rs. 20,000 per month for Project Assistant-II up to Rs. 49,000 per month for the Principal Project Associate post, plus 24 to 30 percent HRA on top, with higher rates on several codes if you hold a valid NET or GATE.
7. Can I attend if my final result has not come yet?
No — you must already have acquired the essential qualification with the result declared and at least a provisional certificate in hand, and final-semester candidates are specifically ruled out.
8. I have worked on CSIR projects before — does that affect my eligibility?
Yes — if you have already served CSIR-IICT or any other CSIR lab as a Project Assistant, Project Fellow, JRF, SRF or Research Associate for a total of six years or more you are not eligible, and if you have served less than that your tenure here can only run until that six-year total is complete.
