If your degree gives a CGPA, not a percentage
EIL asks for a percentage. Show your university’s own rule for converting CGPA to percentage; if you cannot, EIL uses this table to check the minimum.
| Marks needed | 10-point | 9-point | 8-point | 7-point | 6-point | 5-point | 4-point |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60% | 6.5 | 5.4 | 4.8 | 4.2 | 3.6 | 3.0 | 2.2 |
| 55% | 5.9 | 4.9 | 4.4 | 3.8 | 3.3 | 2.7 | 2.0 |
Age relaxation
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 3 years |
| Persons with disability (40% or more) — General / EWS | 10 years |
| Persons with disability — OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 13 years |
| Persons with disability — SC / ST | 15 years |
| Ex-Servicemen | Relaxable, but the notification does not give the number of years |
An NCL certificate (Non-Creamy Layer) proves your OBC family income is under the limit, and it must be a valid one. So an OBC (NCL) candidate applying for Associate Engineer Grade II, where the limit is 37, can be up to 40 years old on 30.09.2026.
Who Should Apply
- This is a fixed-term job, not a regular one: the first term is 2 years, EIL can extend it by 1 year, and the total cannot pass 3 years from your joining date.
- The work is at foreign construction sites in Nigeria and Ethiopia, and EIL can also post you anywhere in India or abroad, so apply only if you can move at short notice.
- Your experience must be in construction on refinery, petrochemical, fertiliser, power or nuclear plant projects; the required length runs from 5 years for Grade II to 14 years for post D1.
- Marks are strict: 59.99% fails, no category gets a marks relaxation, and EIL says an AMIE does not meet the requirement.
- You must register online first and then reach the walk-in with the printed form and originals; EIL pays no travel or stay costs, and interviews can run until 8 PM and into the next day.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Online registration | You fill in the form on the EIL Recruitment Portal between 19.10.2026 and 02.11.2026. Wrong or false details lead to disqualification. This stage is not scored; it decides who EIL screens. |
| 2. Screening on interview day | EIL checks your application and original certificates to confirm you meet every eligibility rule. Only candidates who meet all of them go forward, and a missing original document ends your candidature. |
| 3. Personal interview | Candidates who clear the screening attend the personal interview. It can run until 8 PM and continue the next day. The notification gives no marks or weightage for it. |
| 4. Joining | Selected candidates join only if they are found medically fit, and EIL says the need is urgent, so you must join at the earliest. |
In short: register online, then get through a document check and one interview. The notification does not say how the interview is scored or how the final order is decided.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Apply for one position only. If you send more than one form, EIL keeps the latest and rejects the older ones without telling you.
- Round marks down and enter true figures. EIL says wrong or false details mean disqualification.
- Do not turn up without the printed form and your originals. EIL says a missing original means you are not considered.
- Use an email id that will keep working for at least 24 months, because the interview call goes only to that address.
- Do not apply if you are even slightly under the marks limit or finished the course late. No category gets a marks relaxation.
- Trust only EIL’s own website. EIL has warned that fake interview emails from agencies are going around, and it hires through no agency.
