StageDetails
1. Provisional Merit ListingBased on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (CGPA converted to percentage as per the concerned Board/University’s norms); merit-based, no separate written exam. Date of birth, and thereafter date of passing, is used as the tie-breaker for candidates with equal percentage.
2. Document VerificationShortlisted candidates are called for document verification at the establishment office through their registered email ID only; date, time and venue are intimated by email.
3. Interview / Certificate VerificationShortlisted candidates are called for interview/document verification through their registered email ID. Candidates must furnish original documents and submit self-attested copies and soft copies. Candidature remains provisional until this stage is cleared — merely attending verification/interview does not guarantee selection.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying for more than one discipline — this leads to automatic rejection of the application.
  • Applying without checking domicile eligibility — only candidates domiciled in the listed Northern Region states/UTs qualify.
  • Registering on the wrong portal — use NATS for Graduate/Diploma and Apprenticeship India for ITI Trade, not the other way round.
  • Expecting TA/DA for document verification or interview — none is provided by AAI.
  • Starting registration without your APAAR ID and qualifying certificate (PDF, under 1 MB) ready — this causes delays or incomplete submissions.
  • Assuming a private medical certificate is acceptable — the Medical Fitness Certificate at joining must come only from a Government Medical Officer or a Government Undertaking’s Medical Officer.
