Eligibility DateCounted as on the last date of online application, 28.11.2026
Application RestrictionOne post and one department per form. Apply separately, with a separate fee, for each.
IIIT Pune Ph.D. holdersNot considered unless they have 3 years of outside experience after the Ph.D.

In short, every applicant needs a Ph.D. Grade-II asks for no experience, so it suits fresh Ph.D. holders. Grade-I needs about three years after the Ph.D. plus 20 credit points, a scoring system that gives points for research projects, patents, papers, students guided and similar work.

Who Should Apply

  • If you want a permanent-track job, look at Grade-I. It starts with one year of probation (a trial period), after which you are confirmed if your work is satisfactory.
  • Grade-II is a contract job. You sign a one-year contract that is renewed each year on performance, for a maximum of 5 years.
  • Meeting the minimum is not enough. The Institute shortlists on higher norms, such as experience at top-ranked institutes and papers in recognised journals, so a thin research record may not get a call.
  • You will need to travel to the Talegaon campus for every stage. The notice says no travel allowance is paid for the written test or interview.
  • Looking for a non-teaching job at the same institute? See our post on IIIT Pune non-teaching recruitment (8 posts).

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not stop after the online form. The printed set must reach the Institute by 09.12.2026 (5:30 PM), and eligibility is decided only from that hard copy.
  • Do not apply to two departments in one form. The notice says such a form is rejected, so file a separate form and fee for each.
  • Do not expect to fix errors later. A submitted online form cannot be changed or resubmitted, so keep every detail ready first.
  • Do not send extra documents after the hard-copy deadline. The notice says none will be accepted.
  • If you work in a government body, PSU or university, keep your NOC and vigilance clearance ready. Without them you will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
  • Check iiitp.ac.in regularly. Shortlists and schedules are posted only on the website, with no individual messages.
