Five engineering jobs have opened at Gun Carriage Factory in Jabalpur, the Madhya Pradesh ordnance unit that builds artillery systems for the Indian Army. Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Qualification — Mechanical post | B.E./B.Tech, a 4-year full-time course, in Mechanical, Automobile or Production Engineering with at least 55% marks from a recognised university or college. |
| Qualification — Electrical/Electronics post | B.E./B.Tech, a 4-year full-time course, in Electrical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Instrumentation, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering with at least 55% marks. |
| Software course (compulsory) | For the mechanical post, a certified course in CAD or CAE software. CAD means Computer Aided Design, the software engineers draw parts in; CAE means Computer Aided Engineering, the software that tests those parts on a computer before anything is built. For the electrical post, a certified course in MATLAB/Simulink, electrical CAD/EDA, circuit design or electrical system simulation. The course must be from a government-accredited institute or a training centre authorised by the software company itself. If the software was part of your degree course instead, you must have scored A+ or an equivalent grade in it. |
| Software you must actually know — Mechanical | Siemens NX for CAD work, and Simcenter 3D or Ansys for CAE work. You also need MS Office including MS Project, and the ability to read 2D drawings and 3D CAD models. |
| Software you must actually know — Electrical/Electronics | MATLAB/Simulink, plus in-depth knowledge of at least one of ANSYS Electronics, LTspice, PSpice, LabVIEW, Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD, KiCad, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PSCAD. MS Office including MS Project is also needed. |
| Experience | At least 2 years of full-time industrial work on a regular salary, counted only from the month after you passed your final B.E./B.Tech exam. This is called post-qualification experience. |
| What does not count as experience | Internships, academic projects, teaching, research, work in a non-profit, freelancing and running your own business are all excluded. Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act does count, and so does training as a Management, Executive or Graduate Trainee in a PSU after you got the degree. |
| Age Limit | The notification says you must be more than 21 years and less than 35 years as on 27.09.2026. No age relaxation is mentioned for any category. Check your age eligibility → |
| Desirable (extra marks) | An M.E. or M.Tech in a related stream is not required, but it earns you 10 extra marks at the shortlisting stage. |
| Nationality | Citizens of India. |
| College recognition | Your college or university must be approved by AICTE or UGC. Only full-time regular courses are accepted. |
So the real test here is the two years of industrial experience, not the degree alone. A fresh graduate with an excellent CAD certificate is not eligible, while someone who has been designing parts in a factory since 2024 is.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Eligibility Screening | GCF checks your qualification, experience, age and documents against the rules in the advertisement. Only candidates who clear this go any further. There are no marks at this stage. |
| 2. Shortlisting for Interview | Candidates are ranked on a 100-mark score built from your degree marks, your experience and a master’s degree if you have one. The top candidates are called in a 1:5 ratio — five candidates for every one post. See the breakdown below. |
| 3. Personal Interview | 50 marks. You must score at least 25 out of 50 to stay in the running. |
| 4. Practical Assessment | 50 marks, on CAD, CAE, modelling and simulation tools — in other words, you sit at a computer and actually use the design software. You must score at least 25 out of 50 here as well. |
| 5. Final Merit List | Prepared only from the interview and practical assessment marks, out of 100. If two candidates tie, the one with more relevant experience is ranked higher; if they still tie, the one with higher degree marks wins. |
| 6. After selection | A medical fitness test before joining. You must also submit a PVR, or Police Verification Report, in three copies on your joining day. You then have to follow up at your police station and get the verified PVR delivered to GCF within three months. If it does not arrive, you get one more month. After four months you cannot continue in the job without it. |
In short: your degree marks and experience only decide whether you get called for the interview. They count for nothing in the final ranking — that comes purely from the interview and the software test, so the person with the strongest CV can still lose to someone who performs better on the day.
How Shortlisting Marks Are Calculated
| Criteria | Maximum Marks |
|---|---|
| Marks in B.E./B.Tech — your percentage divided by 100, multiplied by 50 (so 70% gives you 35 marks) | 50 |
| Relevant post-qualification experience | 40 |
| M.E./M.Tech in a related stream | 10 |
| Total | 100 |
| Relevant Experience | Marks |
|---|---|
| 2 years (the minimum) | 20 |
| 2.5 years | 22.5 |
| 3 years | 25 |
| 4 years | 30 |
| 5 years | 35 |
| 6 years or more | 40 (capped) |
Every completed six months beyond the minimum two years adds 2.5 marks, and it stops adding at six years.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Consolidated pay | Rs 50,000 per month, the same in every year of the contract. Consolidated means it is one fixed figure that already includes all allowances. |
| Separate allowances | None. There is no DA or HRA added on top of the Rs 50,000, unless the factory cannot give you a quarter. |
| Annual increment | Given at the end of each year if your performance is found satisfactory. Performance is reviewed every six months. |
| If performance is unsatisfactory | You are given three months in writing to improve. If it is still unsatisfactory after that, the engagement ends with 15 days’ notice. |
| Provident fund | EPF, the government retirement savings scheme, as per the Act and government guidelines. |
| Accident cover | You are covered under the Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923. |
| Paid leave | 12 days a year, worked out as 1 day per month of the contract. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or encashed, and you normally cannot take more than 5 days in a month. |
| Housing | A company quarter on rent if one is free, on a first-come-first-served basis. If no quarter is given, HRA is paid as per AWEIL policy. |
| Maternity benefit | Female staff get maternity benefits under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961. |
| Safety gear | Safety and protective equipment and kits are provided as per company norms. |
| Not included | Promotions, overtime allowance, loans and advances, medical facilities, school fee reimbursement, LTC/LTA, study leave and sponsorship for higher studies are all excluded. |
| Working hours | 8 hours a day, 6 days a week — 48 hours a week, as per the production schedule. |
| Tenure | One year to start with, extendable up to a maximum of three years including the first year. Either side can end it with one month’s notice. |
In plain terms, Rs 50,000 is what you actually get — there is nothing stacked on top of it the way there is in a regular government job. This is a contract post, so treat it as good paid experience in a defence factory rather than as a permanent government career.

- Upload your degree certificate, percentage proof, software course certificate and all experience certificates.
- Pay the Rs 200 fee if you are a male UR or OBC candidate, submit the form, and save a copy for your records.
Note: Offline and postal applications are not accepted at all.
Documents Required
| Document | Format / Notes |
|---|---|
| Provisional or Final Degree Certificate | Compulsory. It must show that you completed the degree, and your class and percentage of marks. |
| Percentage conversion certificate | Needed if your university gives CGPA, DGPA, OGPA or letter grades. It must be issued by the university or college and show the equivalent percentage and the class awarded. |

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- The notification says an application missing the prescribed documents will be rejected without any intimation, so do not submit the form planning to send certificates later.
- A self-declaration about your job role is not accepted — your experience has to come from an employer’s certificate showing joining date, relieving date, last pay drawn and the nature of the work.
- Internships, academic projects, teaching, research and freelancing do not count as experience, and nothing you did before finishing your B.E./B.Tech counts either.
- If your degree shows CGPA or a letter grade, attach the university’s percentage conversion — without it the 50 marks for degree marks cannot be worked out.
- Do not skip the CAD/CAE or MATLAB course certificate. It is an essential qualification here, not an optional extra, unless you scored A+ in that subject in your degree.
- Any change to the vacancies, eligibility rules or last date will be published only on the application portal and on the AWEIL and DDP websites, so check the portal before you apply rather than relying on this or any other page.
- GCF warns that some people may approach you promising a job in the factory in return for money. The whole selection is on merit, so ignore them.
