Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | A pass in BE or B.Tech in Computer Science (also Computer Science and Engineering) or Electronics (also Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Communication, Telecommunication) from an AICTE or UGC approved college, institute or a recognised university. The branch on your degree certificate must match, or you will not be considered. |
| Experience | 2 years of relevant industry experience after your degree, counted as on 01.10.2026. You need skills in at least one of four areas: SOC (security operations centre) work, networking and security, server and storage management, or software development. Teaching, academic and research work do not count. Nor do banking and financial institutions, non-profit organisations, or internships that were part of your course. |
| Age Limit | Maximum 32 years as on 01.10.2026 (General and EWS) Check your age eligibility → |
| Preferred (not compulsory) | Candidates with valid OEM or other certificates are preferred, for example CCNA, CCNP, CEH, CISSP, OSCP, CompTIA, RHCSA or an AWS certification. |
| Posting | You must be willing to be posted at Bengaluru or Delhi and to travel across India. |
| Application Restriction | Only Indian nationals can apply. Lateral application for the same post is not allowed; the notice gives this example: a Project Engineer applying for a Project Engineer post. Such applications are rejected without a reason. |
Age Relaxation
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| OBC (NCL) | 3 years |
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| PwBD (at least 40% disability) | 10 years, in addition to the OBC (NCL) / SC / ST relaxation |
| Ex-Servicemen | As per Government guidelines |
So a 34-year-old OBC (NCL) candidate is still eligible: the 3 extra years take the limit from 32 to 35.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Shortlisting | BEL shortlists candidates only from the details you fill in on the application form. If any detail turns out to be false, BEL can reject you at any stage. |
| 2. Written test | Held for shortlisted candidates at Bengaluru and Delhi. It carries 85% of the marks. The pass mark is 35% for General, OBC and EWS and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD. The notice does not give the test pattern or syllabus. |
| 3. Interview | Only for those who pass the written test. It carries 15% of the marks, with the same pass marks. Candidates are called in the ratio 1:5 (5 candidates for each post), in order of merit, separately for each category. The venue will be told later. |
| 4. Final selection | Names of shortlisted and selected candidates are put up on the BEL website. Call letters for the test and interview go only by email. Candidates with the valid certificates listed in the notice are preferred. |
In short: you are shortlisted from your form, take a written test, and only those who pass it are called for an interview. The test counts for 85% of the marks and the interview for 15%, so the written test matters most.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Check the branch on your degree certificate: if it does not match Computer Science or Electronics as listed, BEL will not consider you.
- Do not count teaching, research, banking or course internships as your 2 years of experience; the notice says they will not be counted.
- Use the same mobile number and email ID on SBI Collect and in the application form, because the notice says they must be the same.
- Check every detail before you submit. The form cannot be changed afterwards, and the fee is not refunded.
- Watch your email, including spam. Test and interview call letters are sent only by email, and BEL is not responsible if a mail bounces.
- BEL Trainee Engineers must tell their own HR department before 27.10.2026 and upload the signed intimation letter, or the application is rejected.
