Selection Process

StageDetails
1. ShortlistingBEL shortlists candidates only from the details you fill in on the application form. If any detail turns out to be false, BEL can reject you at any stage.
2. Written testHeld for shortlisted candidates at Bengaluru and Delhi. It carries 85% of the marks. The pass mark is 35% for General, OBC and EWS and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD. The notice does not give the test pattern or syllabus.
3. InterviewOnly for those who pass the written test. It carries 15% of the marks, with the same pass marks. Candidates are called in the ratio 1:5 (5 candidates for each post), in order of merit, separately for each category. The venue will be told later.
4. Final selectionNames of shortlisted and selected candidates are put up on the BEL website. Call letters for the test and interview go only by email. Candidates with the valid certificates listed in the notice are preferred.

In short: you are shortlisted from your form, take a written test, and only those who pass it are called for an interview. The test counts for 85% of the marks and the interview for 15%, so the written test matters most.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Check the branch on your degree certificate: if it does not match Computer Science or Electronics as listed, BEL will not consider you.
  • Do not count teaching, research, banking or course internships as your 2 years of experience; the notice says they will not be counted.
  • Use the same mobile number and email ID on SBI Collect and in the application form, because the notice says they must be the same.
  • Check every detail before you submit. The form cannot be changed afterwards, and the fee is not refunded.
  • Watch your email, including spam. Test and interview call letters are sent only by email, and BEL is not responsible if a mail bounces.
  • BEL Trainee Engineers must tell their own HR department before 27.10.2026 and upload the signed intimation letter, or the application is rejected.
