Selection Process

StageDetails
Stage 1: Marks from your papersUp to 85 marks, worked out from the details in your online form. Up to 50 marks come from the percentage you scored in the essential qualification. Up to 10 marks come from an extra, higher qualification in subjects related to women. Up to 25 marks come from experience in government or government-linked offices only: 5 marks for each year beyond the required experience. NGO experience gets no marks.
Stage 2: Merit list and shortlistingA merit list (a ranked list by marks) is made from Stage 1. At least 5 times as many candidates as there are posts, category by category, are shortlisted for a written exam, counselling or interview. The Corporation can hold a written exam if it needs to.
Stage 3: Counselling / InterviewThe interview carries 15 marks. Counselling is the meeting where your claimed marks and original documents are checked. A false claim cancels your candidature.
Stage 4: Final selectionBased on total marks out of 100 and the recommendation of the selection committee. If two candidates have the same marks, the older one is preferred.

In short: most of the marks come from your papers, meaning your degree marks, extra qualification and government experience. Only a small part comes from the interview, so your documents carry the most weight.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Claiming a reservation you have no valid certificate for. If a claim is wrong, you are moved to the unreserved category.
  • Leaving the reservation box empty. If you don’t claim it in the online form, you are treated as unreserved and the category cannot be changed later.
  • Applying from outside Bihar and expecting reservation. The benefit is only for people who live permanently in Bihar.
  • Using one form for two posts. Each post needs its own online application.
  • Counting NGO work as experience marks. Only government or government-linked experience earns marks.
  • Claiming marks you cannot prove. Your claims are checked at counselling, and a false one cancels your candidature.
