Age Relaxation
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| OBC-NCL | 3 years |
| PwBD | 10 years, on top of any SC / ST / OBC-NCL relaxation |
| Domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 | 5 years |
| Ex-Servicemen and serving Armed Forces officers | As per HAL rules |
| Overall age ceiling | After all relaxations, age cannot be more than 56 years for PwBD and 55 years for others |
So relaxation only helps if you apply under your own category. An OBC-NCL candidate aged 30 is within the limit (28 plus 3 is 31 years), but if that candidate applies for a UR post, the limit stays at 28. OBC-NCL, SC, ST and EWS candidates who apply for a UR post are treated as UR.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Online application | Apply for one discipline. Only candidates who meet every eligibility rule are considered for shortlisting. |
| 2. Shortlisting on degree marks | Ranked by aggregate degree marks. Up to 10 candidates per vacancy (1:10) are called; ties go to the older one. |
| 3. Document verification | Bring originals of every certificate declared in your form. Government employees also need an NOC. |
| 4. Interview | Tentatively November 2026. You need 50% marks to qualify (relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD), and selection depends on it. |
| 5. Medical and background checks | A HAL medical exam and a character check. No relaxation in health standards. |
In short, there is no written exam. Your degree marks decide whether you get an interview call, and your interview marks decide the final selection.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pay Scale | E0 pay scale (2017) of DPE (Department of Public Enterprises): Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,20,000 |
| Basic Pay | Rs 30,000 a month |
| Annual Increment | 3% of basic pay in the second and third year |
| Dearness Allowance (DA) | Paid on basic pay and revised every quarter |
| House Rent Allowance (HRA) | Paid as per city classification, when company quarters are not given |
| Cafeteria Allowance | 35% of basic pay (the notification does not say what it covers) |
| Medical Insurance | Up to Rs 25,000 a year for a Rs 10 lakh cover; show proof in 3 months. No HAL hospital benefits. |
| Leave | Casual, vacation and compensatory leave as for regular officers; vacation leave is encashed at the end. |
| PF and Gratuity | Provident Fund as per rules. Gratuity at end of term after one year of service, pro-rata. |
| Other Benefits | Uniform and shoe allowance, maternity and paternity leave, TA/DA, periodic check-up, quarters where available |
| PwBD Benefits | Special allowance, transport allowance and special casual leave, as applicable to regular officers |
| Tenure | Maximum 3 years, no extension. Either side can end it with one month notice or pay in lieu. |
In plain terms, you start on a basic pay of Rs 30,000 a month. DA, HRA and the cafeteria allowance come on top, so what you receive each month is higher than Rs 30,000, but the notification gives no total figure. The job does not make you a regular HAL executive.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not apply for more than one discipline. If you do, all your applications are rejected and the fee is lost. If you apply twice for the same discipline, only the last one counts.
- Choose the discipline that matches your degree branch, because the degree must mention one of the listed branches.
- Do not wait for the last day. The form closes at 2:00 PM on 17.10.2026, and fee payment takes 48 to 72 hours to be confirmed.
- Check your category and all details before final submit. Your category cannot be changed later, and a submitted form cannot be altered.
- A distance, part-time, correspondence or e-learning degree is not accepted.
- Keep your email active and do not pay anyone for a HAL job. HAL warns about fake emails, WhatsApp messages and SMS, and is not responsible if its emails fail to reach you.
