| Category | Age relaxation for a meritorious sportsperson |
|---|---|
| Unreserved | 5 years |

| SC and ST | 5 + 5 = 10 years |

| Ex-Servicemen (OBC) | 5 + 3 + 3 = 11 years, after deducting the military service from your actual age |

| Departmental candidates with 3 years of continuous service | Up to 5 years more, plus 5 years more for SC and ST or 3 years more for OBC (NCL) |
So the upper age is not the same for everyone: counted on 01.08.2026, an Unreserved sportsperson can be up to 28, an OBC (NCL) candidate up to 31, and an SC or ST candidate up to 33.
Who Should Apply
- This is a sports-record job, not an exam job. Marks come only from medals or competitions between 30.09.2024 and 30.09.2026, and only your single best result counts.
- The level of your record decides which post you can aim for. Head Constable needs Class 12 and a stronger record (India team, a National Games or national medal up to 3rd place, first or second in an inter-university event, or junior national gold or silver). Constable needs Class 10 and a State, school, university or Khelo India record.
- Women can apply for 113 of the 521 posts (32 Head Constable and 81 Constable), and women, SC, ST and ex-servicemen pay no fee.
- It is not for persons with disabilities, and anyone already in government service needs a No Objection Certificate from their employer.
- Think about the commitment before you apply. You sign a Rs 1,00,000 bond for at least 3 years, your performance is watched for 2 years, and you can be sent to a general duty battalion for combat duties if your sports form drops.

Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Online application and scrutiny | CRPF checks your form and the sports certificate you uploaded. If everything is in order, you get an admit card online with the date and venue. Admit cards are not sent by post. |
| 2. Identity check and documentation | Your identity is checked first, with Aadhaar-based biometrics. Then you show your original documents (age, education, caste, sports certificates and proof for any relaxation). If they pass, you hand in self-attested copies on the spot. Anyone who cannot show the right originals is out. |
| 3. Physical Standard Test (PST) | Officers measure your height and chest (chest for men) against the standards above. This is a measuring test, not a running test. If you are declared not qualified, you can appeal on the same day to the appellate authority, whose decision is final. Women give a self-declaration about pregnancy before the PST. |
| 4. Sports Trial Test | A Board of Officers tests you in your own sport. No marks are given for the trial, but if you fail it you are not considered further. You may also face a dope test on the day, and there is no appeal for a re-test. The trial is filmed. |
| 5. Merit List | The merit list (a ranking by marks) is made from the sports achievement marks in the table above, in your advertised sport. Ties are broken by higher marks, then better achievement at national level (where international results are equal), then older age, then name in alphabetical order. |
| 6. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) | Candidates picked in merit order, up to the number of vacancies, get a full medical check under the MHA guidelines. |
| 7. Review Medical Examination (RME) | If you are declared unfit in the DME, you can ask for a second check by signing a written consent within 24 hours. It is usually held the next day. |
In short, there is no written exam. Your sports marks decide your rank, while the PST and the Sports Trial Test only decide whether you stay in the race.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Upload your sports certificate to your profile before you apply. If it is missing, your application is rejected during scrutiny.
- Apply only once. If CRPF finds more than one application from you, all of them are rejected and you can be debarred.
- Write your name, date of birth and parents’ names exactly as in your Class 10 certificate, or your candidature is cancelled at document verification.
- Do not apply offline or pay the fee any other way. Offline forms are rejected, and the fee is never refunded.
- Use a clear photograph and signature. Blurred or unclear ones lead to rejection.
- Never pay anyone money for selection. CRPF charges nothing for recruitment, apart from the Rs 100 fee for those who must pay it.
