Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Fireman | Passed 10+2 (Class 12) from a recognised board, with Physics and Chemistry |
| Fireman Driver | Passed 10th, and holds a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence marked TRANS |
| Fireman Ministerial | Passed 12th, and types at 35 words a minute with 90% accuracy on a computer |
| Sweeper (Safaiwala) | Passed 10th from a recognised board |
| Cut-off for qualification | You must hold the qualification and licence by 08.11.2026 |
| Domicile | A valid Domicile Certificate of the UT of Ladakh |
| Age Limit | 18 to 28 years as on 01.01.2026 (Sweeper: 18 to 40 years) Check your age eligibility → |
| Date of birth proof | The date of birth on your Matriculation certificate is the one that counts |
| Serving government employees | Send a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your Head of Department with the application |
| Category | Age relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST / ALC | 5 years |
| Ex-Servicemen | As set under the DoPT rules (the central government’s personnel department); actual military service is deducted from your age |
So if you are 30 and belong to ST, you are still eligible for Fireman: the 5 extra years take your limit to 33.
Who Should Apply
- The roster lists no seats for Unreserved, SC or ALC candidates. Unless you are ST (or the one EWS seat for Fireman), there is nothing for you in this round.
- You need a Ladakh domicile certificate, and the posting can be anywhere in Ladakh. Tests are held at Leh and Kargil, and you pick a centre on the form.
- Fireman is a physical job and the test shows it. Men must carry 63.5 kg for 91.44 metres in one minute, so start practising before you apply.
- Fireman Driver needs an LMV licence marked TRANS by 08.11.2026, and Fireman Ministerial needs a typing speed of 35 words a minute. Check both before you pay the fee.
- Sweeper is the only post with an upper age limit of 40 and no written exam. Selection is a short running test, document check and a trade test.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Physical Standard Test (PST) | Pass or fail only. Your height and chest are measured (the notice also calls this the physical measurement test). The Chairman may allow re-measurement on appeal, and that result is final. |
| 2. Physical Endurance Test (PET) | Pass or fail only. Fireman, Driver and Ministerial candidates face five events and must clear each one. Sweeper has the long race only. No re-take after you fail an event. |
| 3. Document scrutiny | Pass or fail only. You show original documents with self-attested copies. The check is provisional until the issuing offices verify them. |
| 4. Computer test (Fireman Ministerial) | 50 marks. You must type 35 words a minute with 90% accuracy, or you are out of the process. |
| 5. Driving test (Fireman Driver) | 50 marks. Only candidates with an LMV licence marked TRANS can sit it, and the marks are added to the written exam marks. |
| 6. Written exam (Fireman, Driver, Ministerial) | 100 marks. Fireman’s select list is made on these marks alone. Pattern and syllabus are given below. |
| 7. Trade test (Sweeper) | Maximum 100 marks, with no written exam. The Board sets the syllabus and calls in trade experts. |
| 8. Final steps | Provisional list by merit and reservation, then a medical examination, character check and certificate verification. A tie is settled by the older date of birth, then alphabetical order of names. |
In short: the physical tests and the document check decide whether you stay in, but only the written marks (plus driving test marks for Drivers) decide your rank. The notice does not say how Fireman Ministerial computer test marks join the written marks.
Physical Standards
