Selection Process

StageDetails
1. PET 2025 ShortlistingThe commission shortlists candidates post-wise and category-wise by their PET 2025 normalised score (the score adjusted so that candidates who sat different shifts are compared fairly). It shortlists 15 times the number of posts, and includes everyone tied on the last cut-off score, counted to 2 decimal places.
2. Main Written ExamOne paper with 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 hours. Each question carries 1 mark, and each wrong answer costs 1/4 mark. The exam date will be announced later.
3. Physical TestsShortlisted candidates face a physical measurement (height and chest) and a physical eligibility test. Both are qualifying only, so their marks are not added to your merit score.
4. Merit ListThe commission prepares it from the written exam marks of candidates who pass the physical tests. You give your post preferences at the document check, and the commission tries to allot posts by preference, but its decision is final.

In short: the written exam decides your rank. The physical tests are pass-or-fail, and their marks do not count towards the merit list.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Apply only once. If you send more than one form, the commission counts only the last one you submit.
  • Select every post you want. A post you do not select in the form is not considered at all.
  • Pay the fee on time. Your form is final only after the fee is received, and nothing can be fixed after 13.11.2026.
  • Get your EWS certificate issued between 01.04.2026 and 06.11.2026, using 2025-26 income. An older certificate will not do.
  • Do not give wrong details. The commission can cancel your candidature and bar you from its exams if it finds false information.
  • Remember that reservation is only for Uttar Pradesh residents. Candidates from other states are treated as unreserved.
