Objective-type multiple choice questions in English only, held on an all-India basis. Group A posts: 85 questions, 85 minutes, 85 marks. Group B and C posts: 100 questions, 100 minutes, 100 marks. Each question carries 1 mark and there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
2. Minimum qualifying marks
40% for General and EWS candidates and 35% for SC, ST and OBC candidates, to be obtained separately in the CBT and in the interview. PwBD candidates qualify at the percentage of their own caste category. Reserved-category candidates competing against Unreserved posts must obtain 40%.
3. Shortlisting
For posts with no skill test, the number of candidates shortlisted is 3 × the number of posts advertised, plus ties. For posts with a skill test, it is 5 × the number of posts advertised, plus ties.
4. Scrutiny of applications
Applications of shortlisted candidates are verified against the recruitment rules for the post.
5. Interview
Applies to Group A posts only (Medical Officer, Sangrur), carrying 15 marks out of a total of 100. There is no interview for Group B and Group C posts.
6. Document verification
Shortlisted candidates are called for personal verification with their original documents.
7. Final merit
Merit is drawn on the CBT score alone for Group B and C posts, and on CBT plus interview for Group A posts. Ties are broken by fewer wrong answers, then earlier date of birth, then higher aggregate percentage in 10+2, then higher aggregate percentage in Matric.
