| If First Class Is Not Shown | You must have passed with at least 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale, or 60% marks overall. Conversions between CGPA and percentage done by a university are not accepted. |
| If Your CGPA Is Not on a 10-Point Scale | Attach a certificate from an authorised signatory of the university (not your guide or head of department) saying you got first class. Or convert your CGPA to a 10-point scale. |
| Engineering Posts | B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in the relevant discipline. A PhD taken straight after B.Tech. is also accepted, if you had first class at Bachelor’s level. |
| Mathematics Post | First class at both UG and PG level (60% or 6.5/10 CGPA), with a PhD in the relevant subject. |
| Recognised Degrees | All degrees must be from an institute or university recognised by UGC, AICTE, AIU or the Government of India. |
| Age Limit | Maximum 60 years as on 21.11.2026. The notice says a fresh appointment beyond 60 is discouraged, except for faculty with an exceptional research career and an ongoing or approved externally funded research project. Check your age eligibility → |
| Nationality and Application Rule | Open to Indian nationals only. You must send a separate application for each Pay Level and each discipline. |
| What Experience Counts | Only regular service counts. Part-time, daily wage, ad hoc, visiting, guest, contractual or temporary service is not counted. |
Experience and research papers needed depend on the Pay Level. SCI journals are research journals listed in the Science Citation Index, and AGP means academic grade pay.
| Post and Pay Level | Experience Needed | Must Have | Good to Have |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Professor (contract), Pay Level 10 | None | None | One publication in an SCI journal |
| Assistant Professor (contract), Pay Level 11 | 1 year | One paper accepted for publication in an SCI journal | Two papers in SCI journals or one patent; may be based on PhD work |

| Associate Professor, Pay Level 13A2 | 6 years after PhD, or 9 years in total (not counting PhD enrolment time), of which 3 years after PhD. Also 3 years as Assistant Professor at AGP Rs. 8,000 or equal, in a reputed university, R and D lab or industry | 4 papers in SCI journals after PhD; one PhD guided as sole or main supervisor plus one continuing; two ongoing projects, or one ongoing plus one completed; two experiments or computational projects added to teaching labs; outreach equal to two self-financed short courses | One or more patents; supervising two or more PhD students; strong industry links; offering courses using ICT |
In short, every post needs a PhD. The higher the post, the more years of experience and the more published research papers you need.
Who Should Apply
- This is a hiring for teachers with a PhD. The Pay Level 10 and 11 posts are Assistant Professor Grade II on contract, so read the contract terms in the official notice before you apply.
- A new PhD holder with no experience can apply for the Pay Level 10 Assistant Professor posts, because the notice asks for no experience at that level.
- If you fit more than one Pay Level, you can apply for each one. You must file a separate application, and pay a separate fee, for every Pay Level and discipline.
- If you work in a government body, PSU, university or college, you need a NOC (no objection certificate) and vigilance clearance from your employer. An undertaking is accepted when you apply, but you cannot sit the test or interview without the NOC and clearance.
- This is not an online-only process. A printed, spiral-bound copy with self-attested papers has to reach Sonepat by 01.12.2026, so plan the postage early.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Online Application | Fill in the form on the Samarth portal by 21.11.2026 (11:59 PM), pay the fee and note your unique application reference number. |
| 2. Hard Copy | Print the filled form, attach self-attested copies of your certificates, and post it so it reaches the institute by 01.12.2026 (5:00 PM). |
| 3. Screening | A screening committee checks your eligibility and makes a shortlist. It can set higher standards than the minimum, such as your specialisation, marks in earlier degrees, the NIRF or QS rank of the institute you studied at, research papers, patents and sponsored projects. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee a call. |
| 4. Written Test and/or Presentation / Demo / Interview | Shortlisted candidates are called on a date and place announced separately. Carry your original documents and a photo ID with a photocopy. No travel allowance is paid, and the dates cannot be changed. |
| 5. Approval and Joining | The Selection Committee recommends names, and the Board of Governors (the institute’s top decision body) approves the appointment and pay. A medical fitness check is also done, before or after you join. |
In short: the institute first picks a shortlist from the applications, then calls those people for a written test, a presentation or an interview. The notice says one or more of these may be used.
