The notice gives no post numbers. Subject-wise and category-wise vacancies are in the Prospectus on bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. It does say how the posts will be shared between three groups of doctors:
| Group of doctors | Share of posts |
|---|---|
| Members of the Bihar State Health Service | 40% |
| Doctors who finished a PG course (residency scheme) in Bihar’s medical colleges | 40% |
| Doctors who got a PG degree (residency scheme) from recognised institutions outside Bihar | 20% |
Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | A postgraduate degree in the subject concerned. DNB / DNB Super Speciality is accepted, as per the NMC (National Medical Commission) Regulations 2025. Equivalent PG degrees valid under NMC teacher-eligibility rules also qualify |
| If degree holders are short | Only then, a PG diploma in the subject is the minimum. Diploma holders get 10 marks (counted equal to a PG degree) but rank below every PG degree holder in the merit list |
| Non-medical subjects (such as Anatomy, Physiology) | A medical MSc together with a PhD is compulsory |
| Degree recognition | Your degree must be recognised by NMC. If it is not, your candidature will not be considered |
| Age Limit | Maximum 37 to 42 years as on 01.08.2026, depending on category (see the table below) Check your age eligibility → |
| More than one subject | If you hold PG degrees in more than one subject, file a separate online application for each subject |
| Repeat tenure | If you have already completed a three-year tenure as Senior Resident / Tutor in a subject, you cannot be appointed again to that subject’s three-year post |
| Doctors serving a bond | PG degree / diploma holders posted as Senior Residents under a 3-year bond may be appointed to these tenure posts if their controlling officer recommends them and the department clears them (Health Department order No. 91(17) dated 27.01.2023). Time served as Senior Resident / Tutor counts towards the bond period |
| Reservation | Posts are reserved as per Bihar Government rules, and a caste certificate from the competent authority is compulsory. The creamy layer benefit goes only to permanent residents of Bihar who submit a non-creamy-layer certificate; otherwise you are treated as unreserved. Women, disabled candidates and grandchildren of freedom fighters get the reservation set by the General Administration Department |
| Category | Maximum age / relaxation |
|---|---|
| Unreserved (male) | 37 years |
| Unreserved (female) | 40 years |
| BC (Backward Class) and EBC (Extremely Backward Class), male and female | 40 years |
| SC and ST, male and female | 42 years |
| Members of the Bihar State Health Service | 5 years extra on top of the limit above |
| Disabled (PwD) candidates | Up to 10 years extra. Only one relaxation applies; it cannot be added to any other relaxation |
In short, the limit depends on your category. A 39-year-old BC candidate is within the limit of 40, but a 39-year-old unreserved man is not, unless he is a Bihar State Health Service member, who gets 5 extra years.
Who Should Apply
- This is round (III). The earlier round, Bihar Senior Resident and Tutor Recruitment 2026 (II), closed on 08.09.2026. The fee (Rs 2,250) and the age range (37 to 42 years) are the same, but the form now stays open for about three weeks instead of two.
- This is a three-year tenure post, not a permanent job. If you have already finished a tenure in a subject, you cannot take the same subject’s tenure post again.
- DNB and DNB Super Speciality are accepted qualifications. A PG diploma counts only when PG degree holders are short, and it ranks below them.
- If you already work in the Bihar State Health Service, you get 5 extra years on the age limit, and you keep drawing your present pay with DA and other allowances if appointed.
- Think before you apply if you cannot travel for counselling. The Board pays no travel allowance, and the Health Department’s decision on your posting is final.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Online application | Register and apply on the Board’s portal between 02.11.2026 and 23.11.2026. Apply separately for each subject and pay the counselling fee of Rs 2,250. Incomplete forms, or forms that were changed after submission, are rejected |
| 2. Panel and merit list | The Board prepares the panel as per Bihar’s reservation rules and ranks applicants in a merit list. The notice does not describe how marks are counted. PG diploma holders get 10 marks and rank below all PG degree holders |
| 3. Document verification and counselling | The date is not announced yet and will be shared after applications are received. Bring every original certificate with one extra photocopy, two copies of the Verification Slip, and a printout of the Confirmation Page |
| 4. Posting | The Health Department decides the posting and its decision is final. Claims about posting are not accepted. The tenure is three years |
In short, this notice mentions no written exam. You apply online, the Board ranks applicants in a merit list, and doctors are called for document checking and counselling.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Use your own (or your parent’s) mobile number and email at registration. They cannot be changed after verification.
- Pick your reservation category carefully. After final submission nothing can be changed, withdrawn or refunded.
- Do not wait for the last day. A form without fee payment by 11:59 PM on 23.11.2026 is rejected, and the Board is not responsible for internet or bank problems.
- If the money is cut from your account but the payment fails, pay the full fee again. Otherwise your form stays incomplete.
- If you hold PG degrees in more than one subject, file a separate application for each one.
- If you are OBC without a valid non-creamy-layer certificate, you will be treated as unreserved.
