Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not pay the fee before checking your eligibility carefully — fees once paid are not refunded under any circumstances.
  • Choose your category correctly the first time, because the category filled in the online form cannot be changed later and no other category benefit will be allowed afterwards.
  • Do not submit the form with incomplete document uploads — applications with incomplete or insufficient documents are liable to be rejected outright.
  • OBC-NCL candidates must upload a certificate in the central format for FY 2026-27, and EWS candidates need an Income and Asset certificate valid for FY 2026-27 based on FY 2025-26 income — an older certificate will not do.
  • If your marksheet shows CGPA or a grade instead of a percentage, upload your University’s official conversion formula as well, for both your degree and your post graduation.
  • Pick your test centre carefully, since no change of test centre is permitted after the application is submitted.
  • Do not attempt any form of canvassing or recommendation — NTPC states that canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
