Thirteen of the 25 posts in Mumbai Port Authority’s new advertisement are for Executive Engineer (Civil), so this one is aimed squarely at experienced civil engineers. There is still room for an accountant, a traffic manager, an estate manager and a security officer. Advertisement No. DR-20 covers 24 Class I posts and 1 Class II post, all based in Mumbai, and the online window runs from 29.09.2026 to 28.10.2026. Everyone sits the same 200-mark online exam; what happens after it differs by post.

Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | Varies by post — an engineering degree, membership of ICAI or ICMAI, or a degree in any subject. Your final result must have been published on or before 01.09.2026. All qualifications must be from an Indian university approved by the UGC or an institute approved by AICTE. |
| Age Limit | 18 to 30 years for Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), Accounts Officer Gr. I, Assistant Traffic Manager Gr. I, Assistant Estate Manager Gr. I and Assistant Security Officer. 18 to 35 years for Executive Engineer (Civil), Dy. Materials Manager and Executive Engineer (Telecom/Electronics). Both as on 01.09.2026. Check your age eligibility → |
| Experience | Five years in an executive cadre is essential for Executive Engineer (Civil), Dy. Materials Manager and Executive Engineer (Telecom/Electronics). For the other posts experience is only desirable, not compulsory. You must hold valid certificates as on 01.09.2026. |
| Language (Assistant Security Officer only) | You must be able to speak, read and write Marathi, Hindi and English. A proficiency test in all three is part of the selection. |
| Physical Standards (Assistant Security Officer only) | Height 165 cm. Chest 81 cm at full expiration and 86 cm after full inspiration, with a difference of at least 5 cm. Weight 50 kg. |
| Nationality | An Indian citizen; or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan; or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 to settle permanently; or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam to settle permanently. Everyone other than an Indian citizen needs an eligibility certificate from the Government of India. |
| Application Restriction | You may apply for more than one post if you are eligible, but each post needs its own application and its own fee. Only one application per post is allowed — if you submit two for the same post, only the latest complete one is kept and the other fee is forfeited. |
Age Relaxation
| Category | Relaxation in Upper Age Limit |
|---|---|
| Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe | 5 years |
| Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) | 10 years, and only for the disability categories that MbPA has identified as suitable for that particular post |
| Ex-Servicemen | Up to 5 years, for those who served at least five years and were released on completion of assignment, or on invalidment for a disability attributable to military service |
| Existing employees of any Major Port Authority Board | Upper age limit of 55 years |
So for Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), an SC or ST candidate can be up to 35 instead of 30. The catch is that relaxation only works if you apply under your own category — an SC, ST or OBC candidate who applies against a UR post gets no extra years at all.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| Stage 1 — Online Examination | An objective-type test of 200 marks in 120 minutes, in English only, at centres in Mumbai, Greater Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane or Palghar. A quarter of the marks for a question is cut for every wrong answer, so a wild guess costs you. The section split differs by post — see the exam pattern tables below. |
| Cut-off for shortlisting | You need at least 35% in each section separately and 35% overall. MbPA can change that minimum and can also cap how many candidates it shortlists. |
| Stage 2 — Document Verification | Shortlisted candidates are called in order of their online exam score to produce originals and self-attested copies. If you do not bring a required document, or a document does not meet the stated criteria, you are out of the process at this point. |
| Stage 3 (Class I posts) — Interview | Worth 30 marks. Held after document verification, with the shortlist published on the MbPA website. |
| Stage 3 (Assistant Security Officer) — Physical and Language Test | No interview for this Class II post. You must meet the physical standards, and score at least 35% separately in Marathi, Hindi and English. Both tests are pass-or-fail. |
| Final selection | Class I: your online exam marks plus your interview marks. Assistant Security Officer: your online exam marks alone, once the physical and language tests are cleared. Every appointment is subject to passing an MbPA medical examination. |
In short: everyone sits the same online exam first. For the seven Class I posts the interview marks are added to your exam score and together they set your rank. For Assistant Security Officer there is no interview at all — the physical and language tests only have to be passed, and your exam score alone decides the merit list.
Exam Pattern

How to Apply
- Go to mumbaiport.gov.in, open the “People and Career / Jobs” menu and click APPLY ONLINE. Choose “Click here for New Registration” and enter your name, contact details and email. The site gives you a provisional registration number and password, and also sends them by email and SMS.
- Fill in the form, using SAVE AND NEXT as you go. Check the spelling of your own name and your father’s or husband’s name against your certificates — a mismatch can cost you your candidature, and nothing can be edited once you click COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
- Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration in the exact sizes listed in the Documents Required table below. You will also be asked to capture a live photo, either through your webcam or by scanning a QR code with your phone.
- Open the Preview tab, read the whole form once more, then click COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
- Go to the Payment tab and pay by debit card, credit card, net banking, IMPS, cash card or mobile wallet. Wait for the server to respond — do not press Back or Refresh, or you may be charged twice. Save and print the e-receipt and the completed form.
Note: Applications are accepted online only. No offline or postal application will be accepted, and an application without a proper photograph, signature or successful fee payment is treated as invalid.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- The name on your call letter, your application and your photo ID must match letter for letter. If you changed your name after marriage, carry the original gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit — MbPA says a mismatch means you are not allowed to sit the exam.
- Nothing can be edited once you click COMPLETE REGISTRATION — not your name, category, date of birth, address, mobile number, email or exam centre. Read the preview page properly before you commit.
- You may apply for several posts, but each one needs its own application and its own fee. Two applications for the same post means the earlier fee is simply forfeited.
- An SC or ST candidate who applies against a UR post loses both the age relaxation and the reduced fee. Pick your category at registration with that in mind.
- A smudged or unclear photo, signature, thumb impression or declaration can get the whole application rejected. Preview each upload after it goes in and replace anything that does not look sharp.
- Reporting late to the exam centre means you are turned away, and mobile phones are banned inside with no facility to store them. Plan to reach early and leave your phone behind.
