Who Should Apply
- This is contract work, not a permanent job. It starts at six months and may be extended after a performance review, though a note in the notification says the project can run anywhere from six months to three years.
- You will be posted wherever PRSC needs you – Ludhiana, Chandigarh, SAS Nagar (Mohali) or elsewhere in Punjab. The notification does not let you pick the city.
- Jr. Research Fellow (4 posts) is the only post with no experience rule. Geospatial Assistant needs 4 years in remote sensing and GIS, and Project Assistant needs 5.
- You pay a separate, non-refundable fee for each post, from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, so apply only where your degree and experience clearly match.
- Marks and CGPA cannot be rounded up, and most posts ask for First Class degrees (the notification does not give a percentage for First Class), so think twice if you are only just short.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Screening of applications | A Screening Committee checks every application against the eligibility rules and can set extra conditions to shortlist candidates. Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call. |
| 2. Written / Practical / Skill Test | Shortlisted (screened-in) candidates are called for the test. Marks, syllabus and duration are not stated. You must score the minimum qualifying marks to move ahead. |
| 3. Interview | Candidates who clear the test are called for an interview on the same or another day. Bring original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies. All calls are sent by email only. |
In short: PRSC first filters applications on paper, then holds a test, and only those who pass it are interviewed. The notification does not say how test and interview marks are added up for the final result.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Principal Project Associate (Soil Science) | Rs 49,000 a month (consolidated) plus HRA |

| Research Associate (Soil Science) | Rs 32,000 a month (consolidated) plus HRA |

| HRA | Paid on top of the consolidated amount. The rate is not stated in the notification |
| Contract Period | Six months, likely to be extended on performance review and project needs. A note says 6 months to 3 years |

In plain terms, “consolidated” means one fixed monthly amount with nothing else added except HRA. Because the HRA rate is not given, the exact amount in hand cannot be worked out from the notification.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Sending an application without a photograph, signature, mark sheets, category certificate or proof of date of birth. PRSC rejects these outright.
- Using one form and one fee for several posts. Each post needs its own application and its own fee.
- Rounding off your percentage or CGPA. The notification does not allow it, and you must prove how you converted grades.
- Posting the application late and counting on the delay being excused. PRSC says it is not responsible for delays and late applications are rejected.
- Asking someone to push your case. Canvassing in any form disqualifies you and can get you blacklisted.
- Waiting for a letter in the post. Test and interview details come by email only, so give a working email ID and check it often.
