In short: you need an engineering degree, 25 years with mining machinery, and a retirement (not VRS) from E8 or E9 grade in Excavation. The notice gives no age relaxation for any category.
Who Should Apply
- This is one post for two years, and the notice says it may be extended. You are paid a fixed monthly amount (an honorarium), not a regular pay scale.
- The work is senior advice, not day-to-day mine duty. You would guide the CMD (Chairman-cum-Managing Director), the Functional Directors and project review committees on digging plans and the buying of heavy machinery.
- You will be based in Dhanbad, report to the authority BCCL decides, and mark biometric attendance. Either side can end the contract with one month’s notice, or the fixed monthly amount in its place.
- Do not apply if you took voluntary retirement (VRS) or retired below E8 grade. If you retired from outside Coal India, a vigilance clearance check also applies under a Central Vigilance Commission circular (No. 07/05/21 dated 03.06.2021).
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Shortlisting | BCCL checks the applications that reach it by 16.11.2026, 5:00 PM and may shortlist candidates. The notice gives no marks or shortlisting ratio. |
| 2. Personal talk | Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal talk (interview). No travel allowance (T.A.) is paid for attending it. Date and venue: Not specified in notification. |
| 3. Medical fitness | The engagement is subject to medical fitness, certified by the Company Medical Officer. |
| 4. Vigilance clearance | Needed for retired officers from outside CIL, as per the Central Vigilance Commission circular named in the notice. |
In short: there is no written exam. BCCL picks from the applications, talks to the shortlisted people, and the final engagement depends on passing the company’s medical check.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |

| Housing | Company accommodation if available. If not, HRA (house rent allowance) as per the CIL HRA rules for X, Y and Z class cities, based on the DoE circular (OM) dated 07.07.2017. |
| Mobile phone | Reimbursement of the actual bill or ₹1,000 a month, whichever is less |
| Medical | Executives of CIL covered by the Post Retiral Medical Benefits Scheme stay under it. Others get the same cover if no post-retirement medical scheme covers them. |
| Leave | 15 days of paid leave every six months, plus the paid holidays of the establishment, as per the CIL Executive Leave Rules for EL (Earned Leave). It cannot be encashed, and unused leave lapses at the end of each engagement period. |
| Official travel (TA/DA) | As per your entitlement at retirement, limited to economy-class air travel. Hotel stay in a single room, up to the E9 entitlement. If boarding and lodging are not provided, you get DA (daily allowance) as admissible at retirement, up to the E9 level. |
| Joining and exit travel | The cost of one ticket for yourself when you join from an out-station, and one ticket when the contract ends |
| GST | If payment of GST is required, it is reimbursed on proof of payment |
| Notice period | One month’s notice, or the consolidated compensation amount in its place, from either side |
