Distance EducationAn open-university or distance degree must be recognised by UGC / AICTE / DEB
Age Limit18 to 44 years as on 01.07.2026 (born between 02.07.1982 and 01.07.2008)
Check your age eligibility →
Local StatusThese are zonal posts, with 95% reserved for local candidates of each zone
Place of WorkYou must be willing to serve anywhere in Telangana
Medical FitnessAppointment is subject to passing the medical examination
CategoryAge Relaxation
SC / ST / BC / EWS5 years
Physically handicapped (PwD)10 years
Telangana State Government employeesUp to 5 years, based on length of regular service (corporation and municipality staff are not eligible)
Ex-Servicemen3 years plus length of service in the armed forces
NCC instructors3 years plus length of service in the NCC

The upper limit was raised from 34 to 44 years by G.O.Ms.No.86 dated 18.05.2026. For Ex-Servicemen and NCC instructors, the age after all deductions must still not go above the maximum age limit.

So a BC candidate born as early as 02.07.1977 can still apply: the 5 extra years take the upper limit to 49. The notification says people from other states get no reservation benefit (Section 4.17).

Not sure whether you are within the age limit?
TGPSC counts your age on 01.07.2026. Enter your date of birth, 01.07.2026 as the cut-off date and your category relaxation to see instantly whether you fall inside the 18 to 44 year band.

Who Should Apply

  • Locals have the main chance. The break-up table has 95 posts in the local column and 7 under UR (usually short for unreserved). A local candidate, in simple terms, is someone who studied or lived in that zone for four years, as set out in Section 5 of the notification.
  • Check your degree subjects first. Statistics must be a main subject, or a paper inside Mathematics, Economics, Commerce or Computer Science. A degree in one of those subjects with no Statistics paper does not meet the rule.
  • Your degree result must already be out. The rule is a declared result on or before 28.10.2026, so final-year students who are still waiting for results cannot apply.
  • Candidates aged 35 to 44 are now eligible. The old upper limit was 34, so this is a real change for people who had aged out.
  • The selection is only by written exam marks, with no interview. Paper-II tests Statistics at degree level and carries half of the 300 marks.

Selection Process

StageDetails
Paper-I: General Studies and General Abilities150 objective questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes, in English and Telugu
Paper-II: Statistics (degree level)150 objective questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes, common for all candidates
Negative MarkingNot mentioned in the notification
Exam ModeOMR (answers marked on a paper sheet) or CBRT (Computer Based Recruitment Test); TGPSC will announce which
NormalisationIf the exam runs in many sessions, scores are adjusted so that different question papers stay fair, and results come on a percentile basis
Exam CentresHyderabad (including the HMDA area), Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal, Nizamabad
Qualifying MarksOC, sportspersons and EWS: 40%; BC: 35%; SC, ST and PH: 30%
Merit ListRanks follow total marks. A tie is broken by local status, then age (older first), then marks in the subject paper
Post AllotmentBy merit and your web option (the list of post and zone preferences you enter online); there is no waiting list
Final ChecksCertificate verification and a medical fitness check before appointment

In short: two objective papers, 300 marks in all, and no interview. You must sit both papers, because missing one cancels your candidature. Statistics is half of your total, so prepare it seriously.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Finishing OTR is not applying. You must submit the online application for this notification separately.
  • Keep the mobile number and email you gave in OTR active until the recruitment ends, because OTPs and updates go there.
  • Update your OTR details, such as disability status, before you apply. TGPSC uses the details in OTR at the time you submit and will not change the form later.
  • Use a photo taken within 3 months before the last date, and keep the photo at 100 to 200 KB and the signature at 20 to 30 KB.
  • Pay every fee that applies. If full payment is not made, your candidature is not considered, and fees are not refunded.
  • Do not leave any box blank or fill wrong details. An incomplete or wrong form is rejected, even if you reach a later stage.
