Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | Full-time B.E./B.Tech with First Class, which BEML counts as 60% aggregate of all semesters (55% for SC/ST/PwD). If you have CGPA, you must give the conversion to percentage. |
| Allied branches | A degree in a branch allied to Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics is also accepted, if you have the required experience. |
| Experience (PQE) | PQE means Post Qualification Experience – only work done after getting the required degree counts. Freelance work is not counted. |
| Private sector applicants | Must be a regular employee of a company registered under the Companies Act. For GM and CGM posts, that company must have a yearly turnover of Rs 1,000 crore or more. |
| Govt / PSU applicants | Must have worked at least 1 year in the scale just below the post applied for (not needed for Engineer, Grade II). |
| Age Limit | Depends on the grade (see table below), counted as on 07.10.2026 Check your age eligibility → |
| Nationality | Indian nationals only |
| Application restriction | Apply for one position only – the one that suits you best |
| Code | Degree Required |
|---|---|
| 101 | B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics or EEE, and M.Tech/M.E./M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics (Masters in Design or PhD is a plus) |
| 102 | Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering |
| 103 | Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Transportation Engineering (MBA Marketing is a plus) |
| 104 | Mechanical or Automobile Engineering |
| 105 | Mechanical, Thermal or Automobile Engineering |
| 106 | Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering |
| 107 | Mechanical, Production or Railway Engineering |
| 108 | Mechanical Engineering |
| 109 | Mechanical Engineering or Rail Vehicle Technology |
| 110 | Mechanical or Automobile Engineering |
| Grade | Post | Min. Experience | Upper Age | Pay Scale (Rs) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grade II | Engineer | 2 years | 29 years | 40,000 – 1,40,000 |
| Grade III | Assistant Manager | 4 years | 30 years | 50,000 – 1,60,000 |
| Grade VI | Assistant General Manager | 13 years | 42 years | 80,000 – 2,20,000 |
| Grade VII | Deputy General Manager | 16 years | 45 years | 90,000 – 2,40,000 |
| Grade VIII | General Manager | 19 years | 48 years | 1,00,000 – 2,60,000 |
| Grade IX | Chief General Manager | 21 years | 51 years | 1,20,000 – 2,80,000 |
| Category | Age Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| OBC (NCL) | 3 years (NCL means Non-Creamy Layer – parents’ income under Rs 8 lakh a year) |
| PwD (40% or more disability) | 10 extra years, on top of any category relaxation |
| All categories | Extra years of experience beyond the minimum can offset extra age, up to a maximum age of 57 years |
So an OBC candidate applying for a DGM post can be up to 48, not 45. And someone with more experience than the post asks for can also be older than the limit, but never above 57.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Shortlisting | BEML checks your online form, resume and the “pen picture” of your experience. Meeting the rules does not guarantee a call – BEML may raise the qualifying percentage if many people apply. |
| 2. Assessment | Shortlisted candidates are called for assessment. The notice does not say whether this is an interview or a test. Details come only by email. |
| 3. Medical exam and document verification | A pre-employment medical check by BEML’s medical officer, and a check of all your original documents. Any wrong detail or missing certificate leads to rejection. |
| 4. Final list | The list of selected candidates is put on the BEML website, and offers are sent by email. |
In short, your written application does most of the work at the first stage – a clear, detailed pen picture of your experience decides whether you get called at all.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pay scale | Grade-wise, from Rs 40,000 – 1,40,000 (Engineer) to Rs 1,20,000 – 2,80,000 (Chief General Manager) – see the grade table above |
| Starting basic pay | Fixed at the minimum of the scale; BEML may give a higher start to deserving candidates |
| Dearness Allowance | Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), which rises with the price index |
| Perks and allowances | Currently 15.12% of basic pay under the Cafeteria System (you choose your allowances from a set menu) |
| Housing | Company accommodation or House Rent Allowance |
| Other benefits | Provident Fund, Gratuity and PRP (Performance Related Pay – a yearly payout linked to company and individual performance), as per company rules |
In plain terms, an Engineer starts on a basic of Rs 40,000 a month and a Chief General Manager on Rs 1,20,000, with VDA, perks and HRA added on top of that.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Don’t write a short or vague pen picture – BEML says unclear or irrelevant experience details will get your form rejected.
- Don’t apply for more than one position; pick the single code that fits your experience best.
- Don’t upload experience letters without clear joining and leaving dates – they are needed to count your years.
- Don’t count experience from before your degree, or freelance work – neither is accepted.
- Don’t use an email or phone number you might lose – BEML will not change them, and all updates come by email.
- Government and PSU staff shouldn’t forget the proper-channel printout or NOC, or they lose pay protection when joining.
