IDA and CDA are pay-scale systems: public sector companies mostly use IDA, and central government departments use CDA. If you work in either, your present or past pay must match the post. Private-sector candidates must meet a minimum CTC (cost to company, your total pay package) per month.
| Post | Pay or CTC Condition |
|---|---|
| Deputy General Manager | Presently in IDA ₹70,000 to ₹2,00,000 or higher (CDA: Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission) |
| Deputy General Manager | OR at least 2 years in IDA ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000 (CDA: Level 9) |
| Deputy General Manager (post-superannuation) | Presently working or retired from IDA ₹70,000 to ₹2,00,000 or above (CDA: Level 10) |
| Deputy General Manager (private sector) | Minimum CTC of ₹1,00,000 per month |
| Assistant Manager | Presently in IDA ₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000 (CDA: Level 6) in a Government body, PSU or Metro Rail Corporation |
| Assistant Manager | OR at least 2 years in IDA ₹46,000 to ₹1,45,000 (non-executive) or ₹40,000 to ₹1,40,000 (executive), or CDA Level 5 |
| Assistant Manager | OR at least 4 years in IDA ₹40,000 to ₹1,25,000 (non-executive) or ₹35,000 to ₹1,10,000 (executive), or equivalent CDA |
| Assistant Manager (private sector) | Minimum CTC of ₹70,000 per month |
| Section Engineer | Presently in IDA ₹40,000 to ₹1,40,000 or equivalent CDA scale |
| Section Engineer | OR at least 1 year in ₹35,000 to ₹1,10,000 or higher |
| Section Engineer | OR at least 2 years in ₹30,000 to ₹1,20,000 or equivalent CDA |
| Section Engineer (private sector) | Minimum CTC of ₹50,000 per month |

In short: your degree and experience are not enough on their own. Your present pay scale (or your private-sector CTC) must also reach the line set for the post.
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Age Limit Counted As On | 03.11.2026 Check your age eligibility → |
| Age Relaxation | Not specified in the notification for any category. The age limit does not apply to current GMRC employees, but it does not help officials re-employed in GMRC after retirement. |
| Current GMRC Staff | Staff with at least 2 years of service in their present designation and grade as on 03.11.2026 can apply through proper channel. |
| NOC and APAR | Government, PSU, Board and Metro Rail staff must submit an NOC (No Objection Certificate, a letter from your employer allowing you to apply) and their last 5 years of APAR (Annual Performance Appraisal Report, your yearly work review) with the application or by the interview date. Deputation candidates must also give the NOC by the interview date. |
| Language and Local Experience | Preference goes to candidates who have worked in Gujarat for at least 3 years and know Gujarati. It is a preference, not a rule. |
| Grade Offered | GMRC can offer a grade lower than the one you applied for. |
Who Should Apply
- This job is for experienced people. Every post needs from 2 years (Engineer – Jr. Grade) up to 10 years of experience (Deputy General Manager, private sector), so freshers cannot apply.
- These are not regular government posts. They are on contract or deputation for at least 3 years, which can go up to 5 years based on your performance. Deputy General Manager is also open to retired officers on a fixed pay of ₹1,00,000 per month.
- Government and PSU staff need an NOC and their last 5 years of APAR ready, because both are due with the application or by the interview date.
- If you work in a private company, keep your latest CTC break-up ready. GMRC says an application without it will not be considered.
- Your posting will be in Gujarat: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat or any other GMRC project in the state. People who have worked in Gujarat for 3 years and know Gujarati get preference.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Application screening | GMRC checks your online application and papers. Incomplete applications can be rejected. Only shortlisted candidates get a call letter, by registered email. |
| 2. Document verification | Done before the interview. Carry your original certificates, or you will not be allowed to attend the interview. Photocopies go in with your resume on the day. |
| 3. Personal interview | The only test listed. Marks, duration and topics are not given in the notification. The date, time and venue are told in advance, and requests to change them are not accepted. |
| 4. Medical examination | Held as per the category set for the post. GMRC can also check the fitness of selected candidates. |
| Who gets preference | Candidates already working in the same grade, or one grade lower with 2 years in that grade. If not enough suitable people apply, GMRC can consider candidates from a lower pay scale who meet the qualification, experience and age rules. |
In short: the notification lists no written test. You are shortlisted from your application, then interviewed, and you also go through document checks and a medical examination. It lists the interview first but also says documents are checked before it, so carry all your originals on interview day.

- Apply only online. GMRC does not accept any other way of applying.
- Take all your original certificates to the interview. Without them you will not be allowed to attend it.
