UR means Unreserved, which is the general category. EWS is the Economically Weaker Section quota, and ST is Scheduled Tribe. Every resident recruited at Puducherry will work at the Karaikal campus on rotation. Radiodiagnosis residents will be sent to the Yanam unit regularly and will visit Karaikal on rotation.

PwBD candidates (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, meaning a disability of at least 40%, checked by the JIPMER Medical Board) get a 4% horizontal reservation, which means the 4% is counted inside every category instead of being a separate pool. If no candidate is found in the category a post is reserved for, people from other categories, including Unreserved, can be considered for up to 40 days. The authority can extend that period.

Who Should Apply

  • This is an 11-month contract, not a regular job. The pay stays the same for the full period, and extra duties given to you carry no extra allowance.
  • It is for doctors who already hold their PG degree. Every requirement, including the final exam and any Junior Residency, must be finished by 16.11.2026. If your result will come later, the notice says you need not apply.
  • Expect to work in Karaikal. Even the posts advertised under JIPMER Puducherry are posted to the Karaikal campus on rotation, and Radiodiagnosis residents also go to Yanam. Check that you can live and work there.
  • There is no written exam to prepare for. The interview alone decides your rank, and if two candidates score the same, the older one ranks higher.
  • If you work in a government hospital, PSU or autonomous body, get your NOC from your employer first. Without it you will not be allowed to appear for the interview.

Selection Process

StageDetails
1. Online registrationFill in the Google Form and upload your photo, signature, certificates and fee receipt by 16.11.2026, 4:30 PM. Enter your details carefully, because the form cannot be changed after you submit it.
2. Shortlisting (only if needed)If many applications arrive, the authority may shortlist candidates for the interview using its own criteria. Shortlisted candidates are called provisionally, so they can still be dropped later if their documents do not match.
3. Certificate verification18.11.2026, 7:00 AM sharp, at the Administrative Block, JIPMER Puducherry. Only candidates whose certificates are in order can sit the interview. Nobody is entertained after 8:30 AM.
4. Personal interviewIn person, and it carries 100% of the marks. Your turn may come later in the day, depending on how many candidates have applied.
5. Final merit listMade category-wise (SC, ST, OBC, UR, EWS and PwBD) from interview marks only. A tie is broken by date of birth, and the older candidate ranks higher. A waiting list is used only if needed, and being on it does not promise an offer.

In short: there is no written test. Your interview marks alone decide your rank, so bring complete documents and be at the venue before 8:30 AM.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Type your name exactly as it appears on your Government photo ID and your MBBS degree, in the same spelling and order. If the two differ, get the document corrected before you apply.
  • Take the photograph holding a placard with your name and the date, and do not edit the placard in later. An edited photo gets the application rejected.
  • Check the form preview before you submit. If your photo or signature looks small or unclear there, the notice says your application will be rejected.
  • Pay only through SBI Collect. Cheques, drafts and cash are not accepted, and the fee is never refunded.
  • OBC candidates need an NCL certificate issued in the current financial year, in the notice’s Annexure-I format, and the sub-caste must be on the central OBC list. Otherwise the application is rejected.
  • Reach the venue before 7:00 AM and never later than 8:30 AM. Nobody is entertained after that, and mobile phones are not allowed in the interview hall, even switched off.
