| Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology) | Degree in Science or Engineering, plus an Associateship or Post-graduate Diploma in Sugar Technology. You also need 3 years of teaching, research or advisory work in sugar technology, or 3 years in a managerial role in a sugar factory. Preferred: M.Sc. | Specialist Grade II – Cardiology | A recognised medical degree (MBBS level, as listed in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956), plus DM (Cardiology), plus 3 years of experience in cardiology after the DM. |

Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Shortlisting | UPSC first checks the information you give in the online form. If many people apply, it shortlists using higher qualifications, more experience than the minimum, or the desirable qualifications. |
| 2. Recruitment Test (only if held) | A written test is held only when the number of applications is large. You must reach the minimum standard UPSC sets for the test, and then the interview too. Test centres include Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and 10 other cities. |
| 3. Interview | Out of 100 marks. The minimum to be considered suitable is 50 for UR, 45 for OBC and 40 for SC/ST/PwBD. Bring the printout of your online form and all original documents. The interview date comes by email. |
In short, a written test happens only if a lot of people apply. Shortlisting is based on what you enter in the form, so list every qualification and every year of relevant experience, even beyond the minimum.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Type your date of birth exactly as it appears on your 10th certificate – UPSC will not change it after you apply.
- Choose your category carefully – you cannot move from UR to a reserved category, or from one reserved category to another, later.
- Do not upload pay slips or appointment letters as proof of experience; UPSC wants a signed experience certificate from your office.
- Part-time, daily-wage and guest-lecturer work does not count, so do not add those years to your experience total.
- The Junior Technical Officer and Cardiology vacancies are reserved for OBC, so check your category before you pay and apply.
- For the Delhi Law Officer post, an OBC certificate from outside Delhi works only if your caste is on Delhi’s OBC list and the certificate follows the Delhi rules in the notification.
