Five Stories Worth Understanding, Not Just Memorising
1. The SCO chair passes to Pakistan. The rotating chairmanship is largely administrative — the chair hosts the next summit and sets the agenda’s emphasis — but it is the detail examiners pick, because it changes every year. Remember the pair: Kyrgyzstan handed over at Bishkek; Pakistan holds it for 2026-27. The SCO works by consensus, so the chair steers rather than decides.
2. Why 7.8% is a real number, not a headline. Quarterly GDP growth is measured against the same quarter a year earlier, so 7.8% in Q1 FY27 is being compared with Q1 FY26’s 6.9%. It beat the RBI’s own 7% projection, which is why it moved forecasts — SBI Research lifted its full-year FY27 call to 7.3% within days.
