Selection Process

StageDetails
Stage 1 — Document VerificationReport at the venue one hour before your scheduled interview time. Only candidates whose documents have been verified are permitted to appear before the Selection Board. Candidates reporting after the scheduled time will not be allowed to attend. This stage is purely qualifying — no marks are awarded.
Stage 2 — Walk-in InterviewThe entire selection is made on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the interview before the Selection Board. There is no written test and no separate weightage table. Merely possessing the prescribed qualification does not entitle a candidate to selection, and the decision of the competent authority is final.
Stage 2A — Cross-cadre considerationA candidate eligible for a higher post (Professor or Associate Professor) may be interviewed against a lower post and, if selected, placed with temporary upgradation limited to the tenure or until a regular incumbent joins. Conversely, if no eligible candidate appears, a candidate eligible for a lower post may be interviewed against the higher post and appointed with downgradation. Where no suitable candidate appears at all, the Selection Board may relax the experience criterion.
Stage 3 — ResultThe result is displayed on the ESIC website at esic.gov.in/recruitments only. No individual intimation is sent. Candidates are advised to check the website regularly, since any change in interview dates is also announced there alone.
Stage 4 — Offer and JoiningSelected candidates must join immediately after receipt of the offer of appointment, execute a contract agreement on Rs. 100 non-judicial bond paper, submit the Rs. 1,00,000 caution deposit, produce a relieving order from the previous employer, and be declared medically fit by the institute’s Medical Board.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not turn up with a self-made application — only the Annexure-IV pro-forma printed from the notification is accepted, and any other format is summarily rejected.
  • Do not carry a single application when applying for two posts; each post in the same or a different department needs its own separate form.
  • Do not arrive at the interview time itself — document verification starts one hour earlier, and late arrivals are turned away.
  • Do not carry an OBC or EWS certificate issued before 01.04.2026 or in the wrong format; the reservation benefit is refused and the candidature is treated as General.
  • Do not forget your Medical Council registration certificate and the NOC from your present government employer — both are checked at verification, not later.
  • Do not assume the interview date is fixed; ESIC announces any change on esic.gov.in/recruitments only, so check the website the day before you travel.
  • Do not budget on service benefits — this is a contractual engagement with no PF, pension, gratuity or promotion, and a Rs. 1,00,000 refundable caution deposit is payable at joining.
