Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | Passed the 10th class (or the equivalent in the 10+2 system) from a recognised board with at least 50% total marks. You must also hold a National Trade Certificate (NCVT) in the trade you apply for, or a provisional certificate from NCVT or SCVT. |
| Age Limit | You must have completed 15 years and must not have completed 24 years on 03.11.2026. Check your age eligibility → |
| Application Restriction | One cluster and one application per candidate. You can rank the units only inside the cluster you pick. |
| Who Cannot Apply | Anyone already doing an apprenticeship or who has completed one. Engineering graduates and diploma holders also cannot apply, because they have a separate scheme. |
| Category | Age Relaxation and Birth-Date Window |
|---|---|
| General (UR) | No relaxation – born between 03.11.2002 and 03.11.2011 |
| SC / ST | 5 years – born between 03.11.1997 and 03.11.2011 |
| OBC | 3 years – born between 03.11.1999 and 03.11.2011 |
| PwBD (persons with disability) | 10 years on top of the category limit |
| Ex-Servicemen | Up to 10 years: the time served plus 3 years, if you served at least 6 months without a break |
So an OBC candidate born on or after 03.11.1999 can still apply, and an SC or ST candidate born on or after 03.11.1997.
Who Should Apply
- This is one year of paid training, not a permanent job. The stipend is Rs 9,600 a month, no hostel is given, and the notification says the railway does not have to offer you a job when the training ends.
- There is no exam. Your rank comes only from the average of your 10th and ITI percentages, so a candidate with strong marks has a real chance even without coaching.
- Apply only if you can live and train in the region you pick. You choose one cluster, then rank its units, and you cannot change this after you submit the form.
- Make sure your trade has seats in the unit you want. A trade with no slot in your chosen unit means the application is wasted, and you cannot edit it later.
- Do not apply if you have a degree or diploma in engineering, or if you are already an apprentice or have finished an apprenticeship.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Online application | Choose one cluster, your trade and your unit preferences. You type in your overall 10th percentage and your ITI percentage. |
| 2. Merit list | RRC averages your 10th percentage (at least 50% total marks) and your ITI percentage in the trade, counting all semesters together. A separate list is made for each cluster or unit, trade and community, and it holds only as many names as there are seats. |
| 3. Tie-break | If two candidates have the same marks, the older one comes first. If the birth date is also the same, the one who passed the 10th earlier comes first. |
| 4. Document verification | Selected candidates show their original certificates at the unit. If the marks you typed differ from what RRC works out from your documents, your application is cancelled. |
| 5. Medical fitness and training | You bring a medical certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure VII) at verification. You then sign an apprenticeship training agreement, and the 1-year training begins. |
In short: there is no written exam or test mentioned in the notification. Check both of your marksheets carefully before you apply, because your rank depends only on those two percentages.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Stipend | Rs 9,600 per month for candidates holding a National or State trade certificate (as per RBE No. 116/2025 dated 11.11.2025) |
| Training Period | 1 year in all trades |
| Hostel | Not provided. You must arrange your own stay during training. |
| After Training | The railway does not have to give you a job, and you do not have to take one with it. |
In plain terms, you earn Rs 9,600 a month while you learn the trade, and you carry the cost of your own living in the city.

- Go to www.rrccr.com any time between 03.11.2026 and 5 PM on 02.12.2026.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying to more than one cluster or sending more than one application. The notification says all of them will be rejected.
- Choosing a unit that has no seat in your trade. You cannot change your choices after the final submit.
- Typing marks that do not match your marksheets. If RRC’s calculation differs from yours, your candidature is cancelled.
- A name, father’s name or date of birth that differs from your 10th certificate. This leads to cancellation at document verification.
- Paying the fee twice. The fee is not refunded, and if you pay again the extra payment is forfeited.
- Waiting for the last day. RRC takes no responsibility if the website is slow or does not open near the deadline.
