Who Should Apply

  • You will work for the Sports Authority of Gujarat, not the Gujarat Government. The notice says selected candidates will not be treated as Gujarat Government employees, so think about this if you want a post inside a government department.
  • If you hold a civil engineering degree, you can apply for both posts, since the qualification and age limit are the same. Deputy Executive Engineer is the higher post (Level 9, entry pay Rs. 53,100). Each post needs its own application and its own fee.
  • With only 4 posts in each advertisement, most reserved groups have 0 or 1 seat. No seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates in either one, and the Scheduled Tribe seat is in the Deputy Executive Engineer post only. They can still compete for unreserved seats, but with no age relaxation.
  • The test is in Gujarati unless the Commission decides otherwise. The rules ask only for adequate Gujarati or Hindi, so if Hindi is your stronger language, check the test medium before you apply.
  • The preliminary test is usually held at Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad at your own cost, and you must attend every stage or your candidature is cancelled.

Selection Process

StageDetails
Stage 1: Preliminary testWritten test with 300 questions for 300 marks, 180 minutes
General Studies paper100 questions for 100 marks
Concerned subject paper200 questions for 200 marks
Medium and venueGujarati unless the Commission decides otherwise; usually Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad
Minimum marksLess than 15% in this test means you are not called for the interview
Stage 2: Document checkAfter the test, shortlisted candidates upload their documents online; no date is stated yet
Stage 3: Interview100 marks, at the Commission’s office; carry original certificates and self-attested copies
Stage 4: Final meritHalf the weight goes to the preliminary test and half to the interview
How marks add up(Test marks × 50/300) + (Interview marks × 50/100) = total out of 100
Final resultPublished within 10 working days after the interviews finish
Other conditionsA consent form and consent deposit may be taken for the exam, with details to follow

The Commission calls this many candidates to the interview, counted category by category:

Posts in the categoryCandidates called for interview
110
216
318
4 or more3 times the number of posts, or 20, whichever is higher

In short, the written test is the first filter, and its marks stay with you: they make up half of your final score, and the interview makes up the other half. Scoring below 15% in the test ends your chance.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying once and thinking it covers both posts. Each advertisement needs its own form and its own fee.
  • Posting or e-mailing printouts and documents. Papers sent that way are not accepted, and you are treated as ineligible.
  • Filing more than one application for the same advertisement. If you spot an error, use the Edit option before 20.11.2026, because no corrections are accepted after the deadline.
  • Copy-pasting your mobile number or e-mail. You must type each one twice yourself, since all updates are sent there.
  • Uploading an old or dark-background photo. It must have a white background and show the date it was taken, within 1 year before 20.11.2026.
  • Paying the fee late. A general-category candidate who has not paid cannot download the call letter, and must pay a Rs. 500 processing charge to unblock it.
