Selection Process

StageDetails
Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination (Objective)Held on 06.12.2026. Two objective papers of 02 hours each: Paper-I General Studies (200 marks), whose marks decide qualification for the Mains, and Paper-II Aptitude Test / CSAT (200 marks), which is purely qualifying at 33 percent and whose marks are not counted. Negative marking of one-third of a mark applies for every wrong answer. Appearing in both papers is mandatory — a candidate absent in either paper is disqualified. Question papers are set in English at the standard of a Degree-level course. About 12 times the number of advertised vacancies are admitted to the Main Examination. Prelims marks are a screening test only and are not counted in the final merit.
Stage 2 — Main Examination (Written)08 subjective papers. English (Compulsory) carries 300 marks and is qualifying only — every candidate must score 33 percent in it, and the rest of the papers are evaluated only if this paper is cleared; its marks do not count for merit. The 07 merit subjects are Essay, General Studies-I, General Studies-II, General Studies-III, General Studies-IV, Optional Subject-I and Optional Subject-II, carrying 1750 marks in total. To qualify, a candidate must score an aggregate of 33 percent (577.50 out of 1750) with a minimum of 20 percent in each of the 07 merit subjects; for PwBD candidates the bar is an aggregate of 20 percent (350 out of 1750) with a minimum of 10 percent in each paper.
Stage 3 — Interview / Viva-VoceCandidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Main Examination are called for the personality test in the ratio of 1:3 of the advertised vacancies, or as decided by the Commission. The Interview carries 275 marks as per Part-C, Section-II of Schedule-II of the APPSCCE Rules, 2019. Original certificates and mark sheets must be produced at this stage — a candidate found ineligible at document verification is rejected and not allowed to appear.
Additional stage for APPS (Police Service) candidatesCandidates applying for the Arunachal Pradesh Police Service must additionally conform to the physical standard, Physical Efficiency Test and medical standard laid down in the Arunachal Pradesh Police Service Rules, 1989 as amended by the Arunachal Pradesh Police Service (Amendment) Rules, 2022. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not submit more than one application — if you do, only the application with the highest Registration ID is accepted, and the fee paid against any other RID is neither adjusted nor refunded.
  • Do not skip the One Time Registration step; the APPSCCE-2026 form cannot be opened until OTR is complete, and leaving it to the last day risks a portal rush before the 1700 hours cut-off on 20.10.2026.
  • Do not submit an incomplete form expecting to edit it later — once submitted within the last date, no additional time is given to change details or upload anything further.
  • Do not use a horoscope, affidavit, birth extract or service record as proof of age; only the date of birth printed on the Matriculation or Higher Secondary certificate is accepted.
  • Do not claim PwBD reservation with a disability certificate that omits the percentage of disability or that is dated after the last date of submission — it will not be accepted for reservation.
  • Do not skip Paper-II of the Preliminary Examination assuming it is only qualifying — a candidate who does not appear in both papers is disqualified outright.
  • Government servants: do not forget to inform your Employer or Controlling Authority in writing that you have applied, since a withholding communication from them leads to rejection of the application.
