CBT-I lasts 90 minutes (120 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). It is a screening stage — its normalised score is used only to shortlist candidates for CBT-II and does not count in the final merit. Full details are in the recruitment post. For the 15 General Awareness questions, a quick revision of our Indian Constitution capsule, Rivers, Dams and Lakes capsule and weekly current affairs digest is a good use of the time left.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not wait till exam day to check Aadhaar — a locked biometric can hold up your entry.
  • Do not assume your exam is on 27 October; your own date and city come only in your Exam City slip.
  • Do not rely on unofficial websites or social media for the city slip or admit card — RRB warns against unauthenticated sources.
  • Do not carry only a photocopy — the notice asks for the original Aadhaar card or a printout of the e-verified Aadhaar.
  • Do not trust anyone promising a railway job for money — RRB selection is strictly on CBT merit.
