The Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, has approved 5,165 vacancies in the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) for the year 2026 — 3,477 posts at Graduate level and 1,688 posts at Under-Graduate level. The approval was issued vide letter No. E(MPP)2026/20/6/NTPC dated 03.09.2026, signed by the Executive Director (MPP), Railway Board, and covers 26 Zonal Railways and Production Units.
This is a vacancy approval letter, not the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) itself. Eligibility, age limit, application fee, exam pattern and application dates are not part of this letter and will be announced when the RRBs issue the CEN. Zonal Railways have been asked to place their final indent in OIRMS between 07.09.2026 and 25.09.2026, after which the Nodal RRB takes over from 26.09.2026 onwards.

- Indents reach the Railway Recruitment Boards between 23.09.2026 and 25.09.2026.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not treat this letter as the CEN — applications are not open, and any site inviting you to “apply now” for RRB NTPC 2026 today is not genuine.
- Apply only through rrbapply.gov.in once the CEN is out; the RRB portal itself currently carries a “Beware of Fake RRB Websites” warning.
- Do not assume last year’s eligibility, age limit or fee will carry over — none of that is stated in this approval letter.
- The zone-wise figures are approved vacancies, not final — each Railway places its own indent, which cannot exceed these numbers but may be lower.
- Station Master vacancies are not covered here, so do not add any Station Master figure into the 5,165 total.
- Never pay any agent or website promising a Railway job or an indent quota — recruitment is only through the RRB exam process.
