Who Should Apply

  • This is training, not a job. It lasts up to 12 months, and the notification says NPCIL has no duty to offer you a job afterwards and you have no right to claim one.
  • You train at the Narora plant in Bulandshahr, and no hostel or transport is given. Candidates living within 16 km of the plant get first preference, so living nearby helps.
  • The notification describes no exam or interview, so your place depends on your marks. A higher percentage in your ITI, diploma or degree helps most, and if you have CGPA or grades you need a certificate that converts them to a percentage.
  • The plant is a highly protected area, so you are taken only after you submit a police verification certificate from the district police.
  • Do not apply if you have already done, or are doing, an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act. Diploma and graduate candidates must also have passed within the last 5 years.

Selection Process

StageDetails
Stage 1 – Local preferenceFirst preference goes to eligible candidates living within 16 km of the Narora plant, as long as the reservation rules are met. If there are not enough local candidates in a category, other eligible candidates are considered.
Stage 2 – Shortlisting by marksCandidates are shortlisted by the percentage of marks in their ITI trade, diploma or degree discipline. The notification describes no written test or interview. If your result is in CGPA or grades, your institute’s conversion certificate is used.
Stage 3 – Tie-breakIf two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate goes first. If the date of birth is also the same, the one with the higher Class 10 percentage goes first.
Stage 4 – Document verificationYou show original documents with self-attested copies and a signed application form. SC, ST and OBC candidates bring a valid caste certificate in the central government format, and OBC candidates need one that states Non-Creamy Layer.
Stage 5 – Police verification and medical fitnessNPCIL engages apprentices only after a police verification certificate from the district police is submitted and the competent authority declares the candidate medically fit.

In short: local candidates are considered first, then your percentage of marks decides your place, and the older candidate wins a tie.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying only on the NPCIL site without first registering on the NAPS or NATS portal, or using the wrong Establishment ID. In both cases the application is not accepted.
  • Link your Aadhaar to your bank account, and use an email ID and mobile number you will keep, because they cannot be changed after you register.
  • Uploading a photo that is not a clear picture of you, or one with reflections on your glasses. A non-human or irrelevant photograph can get you disqualified.
  • Applying as OBC with a certificate that does not state Non-Creamy Layer. Only Non-Creamy Layer candidates get the reservation.
  • Giving false information or hiding relevant facts. NPCIL can cancel your application and bar you from apprenticeship there.
  • Looking for changes anywhere else. If NPCIL issues a corrigendum (a correction notice), it will appear only on npcilcareers.co.in.
