| Special Quota | Details |
|---|---|
| Ex-Servicemen | 29 of the 61 posts: 21 in Technician-B, 6 in Heavy Vehicle Driver and 2 in Light Vehicle Driver. 24 of them are backlog posts (carried over from earlier years). |
| PwBD (persons with benchmark disabilities) | Electronics Mechanic 4 posts, Fitter 1, Electrician 1, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning 1. These cover visual, orthopaedic, hearing and autism disabilities. |
| Master Control Facility (MCF), Hassan | 5 posts: Electrician 2, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning 1, Heavy Vehicle Driver 2. The other 56 are at URSC Bengaluru. |
Eligibility Criteria
ITI is the Industrial Training Institute course. NTC is the National Trade Certificate and NAC is the National Apprenticeship Certificate. NCVT is the national council that gives these trade certificates.
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Technician-B Qualification | 10th pass (SSLC, SSC or Matriculation) plus ITI, NTC or NAC from NCVT in the post’s trade |
| Technician-B Trades | Electronics Mechanic, Fitter, Electrician, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, Turner, Machinist, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Electroplater |
| Light Vehicle and Staff Car Driver-A | 10th pass, a valid light vehicle licence and 3 years as a light vehicle driver |
| Heavy Vehicle Driver-A | 10th pass, a valid HVD licence and 5 years of driving, at least 3 of them as a heavy vehicle driver |
| Public Service Badge (Heavy Vehicle Driver) | Needed if your state requires it. If it is not compulsory in your state, you must get it within 3 months of joining. |
| Other Driver Rule | Meet any other Karnataka Motor Vehicles Act rule within 3 months of joining |
| Age Limit | 18 to 35 years as on 13.11.2026 Check your age eligibility → |
| Nationality | Indian citizens only |
| Application Restriction | Students still waiting for their final result should not apply |
| Category | Age Relaxation |
|---|---|
| SC / ST | 5 years, only on posts reserved for them |
| OBC | 3 years, only on posts reserved for OBC |
| UR and EWS posts | No relaxation. SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates apply on par with UR here. |
| Central Govt servants, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, sportspersons, widows, divorced or judicially separated women (not remarried) | As per Government of India orders. The advertisement does not give the years. |
So the 13.11.2026 cut-off date decides everything: your age, trade certificate and driving experience are all counted on that day, not on the day you apply. An OBC candidate gets the extra years only on a post reserved for OBC; on an open post there is no extra time.
Who Should Apply
- Technician-B is the big door: 46 of the 61 posts, and Electronics Mechanic alone has 24. You need an ITI, NTC or NAC in one of the 8 listed trades.
- Driver posts need years on the road, counted only from the date you got your licence. The experience certificate must come from a government body, registered company, society or trust, not from a person.
- 29 of the 61 posts are for ex-servicemen. If not enough suitable ex-servicemen are found for the backlog posts, those posts go to other candidates of the category they were kept for.
- The main job location is Bengaluru, with 5 posts at the Hassan Master Control Facility. You can be posted to any ISRO or Department of Space unit in India, and you must work round-the-clock shifts.
- Do not apply if your final ITI or 10th result is still pending. The advertisement says only candidates who have already passed can apply.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| Stage 1: Screening | ISRO checks your marks and other details first. Only screened-in candidates get a written test call. |
| Stage 2: Written Test (Technician-B) | 80 multiple-choice questions in 1.5 hours. +1 for a right answer, -0.33 for a wrong one. |
| Pass Marks (Technician-B) | 32 out of 80. Reserved candidates need 24, only where the post is reserved for them. |
| Stage 2: Written Test (Drivers) | 100 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours. +1 for a right answer, -0.25 for a wrong one. |
| Pass Marks (Drivers) | 50% in Part A, and 50% in Parts B, C and D together. Reserved candidates get 25% relaxation where the post is reserved. |
| Called for Skill Test | Technician-B: 1:5 ratio (5 candidates per post), at least 10. Drivers: 1:10 ratio (10 per post). |
| Tie-break | Technician-B: valid NAC marks get preference. Drivers: marks of the notified qualification. |
| Stage 3: Skill Test (Technician-B) | Curriculum-based skill test, 100 marks, qualifying only. Pass marks are 50, or 40 for reserved candidates. |
| Stage 3: Skill Test (Drivers) | Driving test, 100 marks, qualifying only. Pass marks are 60 for everyone, with no relaxation. |
| Place and Documents | Written test in Bengaluru or other cities; skill test in Bengaluru only. Documents are checked at the skill test. |
In short: you clear a written test first, then a skill test in Bengaluru. The skill test is only pass-or-fail, so the written test decides who gets called for it. Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call.
Driver Written Test Pattern
| Part | Questions | Topics |
|---|---|---|
| Part A | 50 | Motor Vehicles Act, 1988: licensing, registration, traffic control, insurance, penalties, accident claims |
| Part B | 15 | Elementary English, 8th standard level |
| Part C | 15 | Elementary arithmetic, 10th standard level |
| Part D | 20 | General knowledge, current affairs, Indian states and capitals, geography of India |
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Technician-B | Pay Level 3: Rs 21,700 a month plus allowances |
| Driver Posts (all three) | Pay Level 2: Rs 19,900 a month plus allowances |
| Pension | National Pension System or Unified Pension Scheme |
| Transport and Housing | Free transport instead of transport allowance; limited housing instead of house rent allowance |
| Other Benefits | Advances for computer and house, leave travel concession, group insurance, subsidised canteen |
| Medical | ISRO medical scheme for the employee and eligible dependents |
| Career Growth | Merit-based promotion for scientific and technical posts |
Pay Level is a grade in the government pay matrix, and these figures are the starting pay before allowances. Because transport and housing come as facilities rather than cash allowances, check what you would actually get in Bengaluru before you decide.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Check your age, trade certificate and driving experience against 13.11.2026. ISRO can cancel your candidacy at any stage if something does not match.
- You cannot edit the form after you submit it. If you apply again, only the latest application with the fee paid counts, so avoid sending several forms for the same post.
- Type your email ID carefully. All call letters go there, and ISRO will not change an email ID or exam centre later.
- Drivers: part-time experience is not counted, and a certificate signed by a person is rejected. Experience counts only after you got your licence.
- Upload a clear photo and signature. A form without the required documents is invalid, and an unclear photo can lead to cancellation.
- If you work in a government body or public sector unit, tell your employer and keep the NOC ready. Without the original NOC you cannot sit the skill test.
