Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| Stage 1 — Merit List | There is no written examination and no interview. A merit list is drawn purely in the order of the percentage secured in the prescribed essential educational qualification, together with the applicable reservation. Where CGPA/CPI or grades are awarded, the equivalent percentage must be indicated in the application as per the norms of the University or Institute, and a certificate to that effect must be produced at document verification. In case of equal marks (even after decimals), the candidate with the higher qualification is placed above; where the qualification is the same, the candidate with more marks in the preceding educational qualification is placed above. Merely meeting the minimum eligibility does not entitle a candidate to selection. |
| Stage 2 — Document Verification | Candidates from the merit list are called for document verification. The intimation is sent by email only, so the inbox and the spam folder must both be checked. Original certificates along with attested photocopies must be produced, including the medical fitness certificate in the Annexure A format. RCF is not responsible for any loss of email due to an invalid or wrong email ID or mobile number. |
| Stage 3 — Apprenticeship Contract | Candidates are appointed as Apprentice Trainees only after successful document verification and approval of the apprenticeship contract on the respective portal — NATS for Graduate and Technician Apprentices, NAPS for Trade Apprentices. |
| Stage 4 — Joining | The Apprentice Trainee is expected to join on approval of the contract. Failure to report for joining on the stipulated date may result in cancellation of candidature. If the response to the advertisement is insufficient to meet the prescribed quota, applications may be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. |

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying for more than one discipline or trade — RCF rejects every application submitted by such a candidate, not just the extra one.
- Picking the wrong posting unit: the Trombay or Thal choice is locked once the form is submitted, and the place of posting is non-transferable for the entire training period.
- Applying with a qualification passed before 01.07.2023, or through Distance Learning, Part-Time or Correspondence mode, or with an allied branch of Diploma in Engineering — none of these are accepted.
- Uploading a photograph larger than 75 KB or a signature larger than 25 KB, which the online form will not accept.
- Carrying a medical certificate in any format other than Annexure A, or giving a bank account that is not DBT-enabled and Aadhaar-linked — the stipend cannot be credited without it.
- Giving an email ID or mobile number that is not in regular use — the document verification call goes out by email only, and RCF accepts no responsibility for a missed or spam-filtered mail.
- Telephoning or visiting RCF for a status update — the notification warns that any such attempt may lead to disqualification; write only to apprentice2026@rcfltd.com.
