Only one seat is on offer, but it is a permanent Class-1 gazetted post (a senior officer grade). The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) wants a Law Officer (Vidhi Adhikari) for its own office under Advt. No. 14/2026. You need a law degree with 60% marks and five years of High Court practice in service matters. Online forms open on 23.11.2026 and close on 22.12.2026.
Do not mix this up with the Jail Department Law Officer advertisement (Advt. No. 13/2026, 4 posts, closing 05.11.2026). That one is a different recruitment, and we cover it in a separate post.

Eligibility Criteria
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Educational Qualification | Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university with at least 60% marks. If your university gives grades instead of marks, attach a university certificate showing the percentage equivalent, with an affidavit (sworn statement). |
| Experience | At least 5 years as an advocate handling service matters (cases about government jobs) in the Hon’ble High Court, including at least 50 separate decided and pending cases. You prove it with an affidavit in the Annexure-3 format, listing your appearances before the High Court benches. |
| Age Limit | 21 years completed and 40 years not completed as on 01.01.2027. No age relaxation is allowed, because the post is unreserved. Check your age eligibility → |
| Domicile | The notification does not restrict the post to Madhya Pradesh residents. Candidates from other states can apply and pay Rs 500. |
| Deadline for Meeting the Rules | You must hold the qualification and experience on or before 22.12.2026. If you meet them only later, you are not eligible. |
| Not Eligible | Anyone convicted of an offence against women, and anyone with more than two living children if one of them was born on or after 26.01.2001 (rules under the MP Civil Services General Conditions of Service Rules, 1961). |
In short, you must be at least 21 and not yet 40 on 01.01.2027. By our count that means a birth date from 02.01.1987 to 01.01.2006. Reserved-category candidates get no extra years here.
Who Should Apply
- This is the commission’s own Law Officer post (Advt. No. 14/2026) and it needs five years in High Court service matters. The Jail Department post in Advt. No. 13/2026 asks for only two years and has four posts, so check which one fits you. Here is the Jail Department Law Officer post.
- There is one unreserved post and no reservation, so the competition is for a single seat.
- You need court experience, not only a degree. The notification wants 50 or more cases and an Annexure-3 affidavit to prove it.
- Candidates who are 40 or older on 01.01.2027 should not apply, because no category gets age relaxation.
- You can apply from outside Madhya Pradesh. The fee is Rs 500, and your form is not complete until the printed copy reaches Indore.
Selection Process
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Document scrutiny | The commission checks your documents. It then ranks candidates by marks in the qualifying (law degree) examination and calls 12 candidates for the interview, plus anyone tied on the last cut-off marks, as long as enough eligible candidates are available. |
| 2. Written test (only if needed) | Held only if more than 500 candidates apply. The commission then calls three times the number of posts, plus candidates tied on the last marks, for the interview. The exam plan and syllabus will be put up on mppsc.mp.gov.in. |
| 3. Interview | 100 marks. If there is no written test, you need at least 41 marks to pass. |
| 4. Final selection | Without a written test, the merit list follows interview marks only. With a written test, it follows written plus interview marks, and the interview has no minimum pass mark. |
In short, unless more than 500 people apply, there is no written exam. The commission interviews the 12 candidates with the best law degree marks, and your interview score decides the result.
Salary and Benefits
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pay Band | Rs 15,600 – 39,100 |
| Grade Pay | Rs 6,600 |
| Post Type | Class-1 gazetted, permanent post |
| Probation | 2 years |
In plain terms, your pay starts at Rs 15,600 and the Rs 6,600 grade pay is added on top. The notification does not list allowances, so the in-hand figure depends on rules the commission will apply.
How to Apply
- Keep a recent passport-size colour photo, a scanned signature and your marksheets ready. Then open the MPOnline Portal or the MPPSC website between 23.11.2026 and 22.12.2026, or go to an MPOnline kiosk.
- Fill in the Law Officer form (Advt. No. 14/2026) and submit it. A pop-up shows your name, parents’ names, date of birth and category. Check them and press OK. Your form gets an application number but stays “Unpaid”.
- Press “proceed for payment” and pay Rs 250 or Rs 500. Save the printout that says “Payment Done”.
- Fix any mistakes between 25.11.2026 and 24.12.2026, at Rs 50 per correction session. Your name cannot be changed.
- Download the certification form, personal details sheet and attendance sheet from the MPPSC website and fill them in. Put them in one envelope with the printed online form and your self-attested document copies. Send it by registered or speed post to: Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, Residency Area, Indore (MP) – 452001. It must reach the office by 6:00 PM on 28.12.2026.
Note: the online form alone is not enough. The commission does not consider an envelope that does not show the advertisement number, post and department on the front.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not post the hard copy late. The commission counts the date it reaches Indore, and 28.12.2026 (6:00 PM) is the deadline without a late fee.
- Write the advertisement number, the post and the department on the envelope. The notification says a cover without them will not be considered.
- Check your name, date of birth and category before you press OK. The name cannot be changed later, and mistakes found at the interview are not corrected.
- Do not apply unless you already hold the degree and the five-year experience on 22.12.2026. Anyone found short of it later is rejected, even after the interview.
- Give correct information. A wrong or false statement can cancel your candidature at any stage.
- Pay only through the portal. The commission accepts no bank draft, and it refunds the fee only if the advertisement is cancelled.
