Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Uploading a photograph that is not in Scout / Guide uniform, or one with a cap, goggles, wig or coloured glasses — the notification lists these as grounds for summary rejection.
- Signing in BLOCK or CAPITAL letters, or submitting the form without a scanned signature — both make the application invalid.
- Trying to cover both Level-2 and Level-1 with one form — each level needs its own application and its own fee payment.
- Entering a date of birth that does not match the 10th / SSLC / Matriculation certificate — no change is allowed afterwards on any ground, and the mismatch leads to disqualification.
- Paying by cash, cheque, money order or Central Recruitment Fee Stamps — only online payment through the gateway is accepted.
- Answering every objective question by guesswork — one third of the marks is deducted for each wrong answer.
- Dealing with agents or coaching agencies promising a railway job — Southern Railway has appointed no agents or training agencies, and all its recruitment is purely merit based.
